Used to be, but not anymore. The advantages of being jailbroken on iPod Touches has diminished significantly with the latest models/iOS. I felt good flushing out all the extra files and instead optimizing my device for the most important thing... playing games
I'm a little confused by what you mean here-- most jailbreak tweaks/apps shouldn't affect gameplay at all. All of my games run just as well as they did when my device was vanilla...
Every little helps. They never exactly harmed performance when I was jailbroken but a few still used CPU in the background. I'd rather go as clean as possible and focus on the thing I bought my iPod for, with absolutely nothing unnecessary going on. Memory too; no apps I don't really need when I could be shoving more games on there.
source? i'm really interested in this. Still, i wanna know the numbers re TA users ie: Gamers like me
Not anymore. The only reason why I would consider jailbreaking again is to bypass Apple's folder limit.
Have mine original and always will so voted as such. Not going to give reasons why because it's a personal preference and not debatable.
Jail broke and use a bunch of excellent paid and free tweaks - but I mainly use it for gaming (SNES, GBA, and Gameboy emulaters). Would never think about going back... Unless Apple eased up on third party software outside of the app store.
Hehe. Reminds me of myself last year - exactly. Once (and if you ever) you do cross the road, say bye bye to the side you're on now. You won't be able to find a single reason to go back... I know I haven't. I'm guessing Jailbreaking has evolved greatly in the past year judging from how much research I did before taking the step, and reading about how much crap people had to go through and troubleshoot in previous releases. It's one of those things that has a huge, huge hurdle - I had to again, like I mentioned, do a lot of research and look through hundreds of postings and sites before convincing myself to take the plunge. But once I took it... I was like... hmm... ok... that's it? Easy... I don't know about then, but I do know that things are butter smooth on current releases and have been so for a while now. Funny how most people on this thread who voted yes probably didn't post any message... probably because being jailbroken comes with the misnomer of being a pirate. I buy all my games and i'm glad for it, but - i'm also glad to have the customization options which a Vanilla iPhone wouldn't dare give me.
