Very often my iphones battery is down to like 10% percent right before i go to bed. So i then have to play a game or surf the web or play music to drain the battery till the iphone shuts off. I dont usually do this often but at least a few times a month, i let the battery drain to zero to restore memory to the battery.

Is there an app that will strictly drain the battery for this simple purpose?

    Thanks,

    Rob

I found that reign of swords 1 (original game) drained my battery the quickest of all the games I have played. No other game, even the 3D ones with high end graphics drained my battery as fast.

When dealing with Li-ion batteries, draining them fully empty before recharging is the wrong thing to do. You get best life out of these type of batteries by charging them when they're only partially drained.

Try UnderWorld, Sweet Deal. This game always connected to internet, turn on 3G and within 4-5 hours you'll have an empty battery :)

Games that use the accelerometer seem to drain the battery faster for me.

As for preserving battery life, I've heard that it's better to keep the battery topped up (i.e. charge every chance you get) and completely drain it about once a month.

Frand is completely right! Don't drain your battery. This is an old habit that was true for the old old NiCd and NiMh batteries. LiPo batteries are very sensitive to drainage.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liion

Lithium-ion batteries should not be frequently discharged fully and recharged ("deep-cycled"), but this may be necessary after about every 30th recharge to recalibrate any electronic charge monitor (e.g. a battery meter). This allows the monitoring electronics to more accurately estimate battery charge.[26] This has nothing to do with the memory effect.
