Hey guys. I was looking for a nice Christmas gift, and I saw ME2 was only 20 bucks. I really don't know whether I will enjoy it though, for a couple reason: -I never played Mass Effect 1, and I don't intend to pick it up (I just don't have the time to play both-if I play ME1 first, I'll only end up finishing ME2 around a year and a half from now ) -I'm more into gameplay than story. All the reviews rave about ME2's story and how cool it is to make decisions, but I'd take good gameplay over good story any day. Also, complex stories (ME2 sounds pretty complex) tend to get me confused. I obviously don't mind a good story, but if I'm more into it for the gameplay, is it still worth the price, considering that I have a plethora of other shooters? The price for the game is great, but I really don't know if it's right for me. Any advice? Thanks for all help
No slapshot is right. It is a truly amazing game and I font even like it's genre. Also the gameplay is awesome. All you have to know is your a guy(commander), your ship blew up, and people rescue you and bring you back to life so you can help them. That's it for ME2 and there's always the demo to try first.
The Mass Effect series is arguably the best series from this generation of games and is certainly my favorite. If you don't care much about story, however, then you would probably get bored with the constant dialogue that comes with it since it's a role playing game. You'd likely be tempted to skip a lot of the cutscenes/conversations to get to the gameplay and thereby would miss out on half of the game and end up not being very emotionally involved with the characters around you or with the objective of the story of the game. But seriously, you need to do yourself a favor and give it a shot. It's a pretty good third person shooter that is made into and excellent game by it's story, character development, and the way the player is able to progress the story in his own unique way through the hundreds of decisions that he makes.
It's not always a guy. But yes, Mass Effect 2 is an amazing game. I personally think that if you buy ME1 first, you'll end up loving it and getting ME2. And if you love it as much as I do, it won't take you very long to beat it
You are going to LOVE Mass Effect 2. The gameplay is so good. The storytelling is definitely one of its main points, but as long as you have a general idea of what's going on, you should be ok.
