I can see that the posts in this thread give you some pain and I assumed you are responding because you have tried my game and have come to the conclusion that there is not enough new innovation there to have lead me to believe that it qualifies as an improvement thereby justifying why I should release it, lets leave the name aside because I know I dont need the name and my next version will not have it. To answer you about a creation totally belonging to one person and that no one should try to improve on it would mean that we would see no new innovations to the way we listen to music, the way music is bought, the way news is coming to us, the way mail is delivered, the way people around the world communicate with each other, the way information is available, how phones have changed, flights, war (I dont like that example but a fact) etc etc etc. I personally feel that a good developer creates because he/she feels the need to but should know that during the creation process if they have a winner they will be studied by other developers who will try to analyze why the game took off and see if they could have done better and if they feel motivated to do it because they strongly believe they have something to offer. During this period the creator should take long looks at their game and see if they too can make it better and use the advantage they have of being first and use the strong audience of faithful player to let them know that they are trying to improve their play experience with their updates to give no reason for these players to switch. Also the creator has a second advantage and that is that most games are played but for a short period because there are so many new games coming up so to hold a player for a long time is not possible.
If a music track copies or uses a very similar groove/sound to an older tune they normally have to pay royalties. Same for a lot of rap music I think the major issue is you simply don't seem to see the issue. There's an unofficial unwritten rule I'm sure amongst most main (decent) developers not to clone/copy other people's work or ideas Of course some don't agree with that but those are normally the type of cheap overseas developers most people don't like
There is also a difference to using a mechanic you like to make a different game for the example the difference between commander keen, mario and sonic. All 2D platformers with similar mechanics but totally different art/IP/level design/story. To keep going on the music it is the same as liking metal and writing a metal song compared taking someone else's song adding a solo and changing a few lyrics and calling yourself "M3gad3th" or "Megadeth reloaded" instead of Megadeth.
If you truly believe in what you write here I still cannot understand why you want to remain silent. What's wrong with you guys? After you have downloaded, looked around and tried the game in question and you believe what your wrote here you should post your comments there for players to read and more important for the people who may make the mistake to invest in what I do. Your voice is the strongest there but yet you only take a few weak shots here. I believe in making good things better and it will be one of my models as it has been for countless famous people resulting in the products we choose to use today. Doing that sometimes puts a target and if you want to take a shot please do it but do it because like I who believe in what I do believe in what you write.
I am a Canadian with 17 years of China experience so not sure if your should tar Chinese because you see that I am in China. If you need to use such a wide brush then you would have to say I am Canadian since I was about 4 when my parents immigrated there and have been in Canada for 46 years. All creative people understand the unwritten rule that once we expose our work we are open to a variety of comments. I take the ones serious from the people who post their comments on my games. Feel free to post yours there if you strongly believe in what your say but look at the evidence first, the game, then put some meat into your comments by letting them fall on the ears of those who count the most, the players who support us all.
I wasn't saying that innovation is wrong, I was trying to help you see from a different view point. Most "clones" are not looked favorably upon by the original developers, because you didn't just come to them. What if someone took your game without permission? Sort of like copyright infringement if they choose to press charges (don't have a complete knowledge of copyright laws). I'm not saying you were wrong for making this app. I'm pointing out that the WAY you went about it was a little unethical. I hope you can see my point, I took a small class in digital ethics so I can see some actions you did that might call for a lawsuit or just is harmful to the original. EDIT: I tried your game out, pretty cool. But I still stand by my argument.
I respect your reasoning and understand why you are so firm and will do my best to be more aware of making sure my focus of trying to make it better is not confused by possible copyright infringement. I hope I have stirred something inside you that causes you to look at your surrounding and get quick flash backs as to how the things you use have changed from the original concept. Also as I have with others here I encourage you to express your views in the game comment area so that the players playing the game may give them consideration for they are the ones who judge us all in the end.
To conclude this post which seems to have tested your gut reaction which in more part is dead against the game. You all have failed to point out is it 3's, 2048 by the young guy or Ketchapp that holds claim to the game and name. And none of you have taken your discuss to the highest level which it to make the players of my game aware of it. So what does this mean, I leave that for you to ponder. All in all very interesting and educational.
