Would an MMS app be possible using the SDK?

MMS is the thing I miss most (2nd is video recording) and makes the iPhone seem like a step back.

I think the first developer to create this app would be a rich man.

I think in theory it's possible, but the biggest hurdles are:

    1. MMS fees. Typically (as I understand it) MMS have a different fee structure.
    2. Notifications. This issue will get addressed in September, but until then (just like IM apps), no notifications unless you check the app directly.

This app was already made for jailbroken iphones. it was called SwirlyMMS

Unfortunately MMS isn't handled the same way as SMS.
In order to get the app to work you needed to have MMS on your plan (I convinced At&t to add it to my iphone) and then you had to manually enter the server info.

If someone made a legitimate MMS.app it would be useless until At&t allowed us the "privilege" of paying another 10 dollars for an MMS plan. =/

    Interesting info. guys.

I thought MMS was more like an email than and actual SMS.

I'm in the UK and usually MMS messages are taken as 2 normal text and as we get at least 500 free texts per month so that would be fine.

I wouldn't mind paying extra for it though.

I read about swirlymms (or whatever it was called) but it didn't look like it worked very well.

    Cheers
