Just played the first 2 level on level 2, i was first rushed to the main objective and lose quicky because of out number but with second playthrough, i try to explore the map and find 2 more fire team that help me defense really easy This is so awesome
Wow I got a big challenge with the escort mission. I ended up failing three times. I then swapped out for Shatra who was higher leveled. I kept failing at the very end but then I realized the game doesn't want you to slowly work toward the exit, the whole point was to run to it because the enemies swarm you. So I basically had to sacrifice most of my units to get the VIP to the escape point. They acted as shields as she had a sliver of health remaining. That was intense!
My sentiment exactly. Level 4 easy mode, I already have a tough time to pass through it. This is definitely catering toward the hard core fans. Very different from Kingdom Rush.
Thank you. As a longtime Starcraft fan I'll have to pull the trigger then. I just hope I'm not being mislead. Still disappointed in the heroes costing up to 7 dollars separately but it is what it is.
Just a note, I've beaten most of the first area's nodes on veteran and all the special missions on veteran. Pretty tough on the later ones but definitely doable. And as you beat the levels you get more upgrade points and that helps you as well. As for the free heroes, they're all really good. I think performance-wise, they're all better than Kingdom Rush Heroes in terms of balance. The first hero is basic but he has a shield which is very useful for tanking and high damage attacks - nothing wrong with his set up. He can support his units well as a tank. Second hero Kara is great especially for ranged encounters and has a special move when she gets into close quarters. She can keep herself safe at a distance and dish out damage. The second move won't be used as much since she's mainly a long distance attacker Third hero Paragon is close quarters with good damage skills. He can take a beating on the frontlines however he has a powerful heal skill to keep himself alive. Fourth hero fate is the most hands on hero but is very versatile. She has a strong long range attack and good medium range attack. Her skills are best used in tandem to cloak and then put a bomb where the enemy group is the thickest. This helps immensely in the special mission where you fight hordes of enemies, she can wipe out half a dozen with one bomb. If she's in danger, you can also cloak her and have her pick off enemies. She's the most fun to use for me. I also have Sha'tra who I think is better than the 3 but not super over powered. His skills are all strong - first skill is instant abduction in a small radius, pretty much an instakill. Extremely useful for all occasions (except bosses I guess). The second skill is an alien fighter attack. It's actually a close range attack so it's risky if you want to run into enemies to use it but it does great damage. Sha'tra's great skills are balanced by being primarily a melee fighter so he takes damage easily. He does have a long range attack but it has low DPS. If Sha'tra does die he self destructs for small enemy damage. Sha'tra is a huge homage to Protoss and Predator, two of my favorite scifi characters. He has a lot of Predator quotes in Iron Marines which made me really happy. I'm pleased with my purchase of him.
Dude it has an easy difficulty setting. Put it on that, and upgrade your hero and tech (freely) as you go and you should be able to beat the first world without replaying (grinding) a single level.
Level 4 is where the game really starts to shine and you realise you're truly playing a real time strategy game, a 'real' RTS. I became overwhelmed quickly on my first attempt at mission 4. It was probably at that moment I started treating the game with respect and came up with a strategy instead of running and gunning. My point is that this is an RTS game, with the emphasis on strategy. If you don't have a plan for a mission you won't get far and nor should you. It is also incredibly fun to try different strategies with different units/Heroes. In Kingdom Rush you could fluff your way through any level, with this game you cannot, and it has nothing to do with the consumable iap whatsoever. I despise consumable iap with a passion and almost exclusively only play Premium games. In my honest opinion this is an amazing premium game that requires only strategy and a little concentration to win each mission, iap is truly optional. A lot of respected people here have already said as much. Instead of worrying too much about the in apps, I guess a buyer should understand what type of game this is first and realise that the genre isn't a walk in the park, it is very strategic in the most satisfying and challenging ways.
I've finished 6 missions and 3 special ops and so far it seems very fair. With the credits you can only buy powerups which are essentially cheats. I never used those and I have plenty of credits to buy the expensive ones. The skill tree currency cannot be bought and so it feels balanced. Looking forward to playing more.
Im at 7/8 story missions and 4/6 of spec ops casual setting no consumables used and just using free heroes but i dont understand why is everyone saying this is a pushy game for everyone to buy iaps Just a little tip just make sure you upgrade the skill tree one by one, explore the map for additional help, run or take your time depending on what you think is best for the scenario, micromanage your units and dont just cluster them in one place, make good use of the drop turret and timing helps too Of course there are fail runs too so needed to change my strategy from time to time.. just dont forget to treat this with respect cuz if its too easy for then no need to call it a strategy game cuz you wont even need to make one
Is there some way to disable the hero voice on. Every. Damn. Move. You. Make? This is seriously so annoying to me, and disabling all sound effects would not be a good workaround. I think the devs should consider patching it to wait 4-5 moves before making the hero say their next line.
How is this the same as others? Its much less focused on tower defense. You need to explore rather than just plant things around a map. Much more focus on real-time and troop/hero movement. Some similar mechanics but quite different when you get down into it.
Most of objective ingame beyond the reach or tower, you need to control hero and troops in real time to play the game xD
I regret buying it too! I agree so much with iosuser! I am stuck on the fourth level on easy !! WTH ?! I have played a few RTS in PC before but I didn't expect to be so much difficult ! Developers wants your money. It's obvious! And what about the future levels? These will be more difficult! It's the same tactic that was happening with Kingdom Rush. The problem is that in Kingdom Rush you could actually finish all the levels but maybe not with 100% etc. You could finish a level and have 1 heart out of 20. You pass it because you survived. Now, it's NOT the same thing. You actually die a lot in the stages. I don't want to farm this game. It has great graphics, music, animation, theme, etc but it's so difficult! I have finished all the three Kingdom Rush but this one is waay different. It's not enjoyable even if you could see a walkthrough from youtube. This is the second game that I request a refund. Sad.
This would have been the first time I purchased a game with in game currency (I don't mind paying extra for Expansions). I guess I stick to not buying premium games!
First of all, you are playing it wrong I'm using only sniper and get rekt of them really easy on all 3 lane, let the trash for auto turret, heavy armored enemy will be sniper to take care. I just used my hero to go expand the lane, the def part is so easy with AI. The core of level 4 is to introduce you to building auto turret as main defense force, compare to 3 previous level, this one is the most "tower defense"-ish one. I think most people fail this level and see it so hard because they thought this one is another search and destroy mission so they burn all they limited soldier to the enemy base and end up swarmed by the whole 3 lanes and btw, the Refinery can be upgrade to shielding turret and expand the sight with radar too. Maybe the problem with this game right now is not difficult, not learning curve, just lack of tutorial and infomation give to new player.
I agree with xtrgrvyplz. I'm at 6/8 missions 4/6 spec ops on normal and I'm at almost the same point on veteran. I haven't used any IAP and haven't had to repeat any missions more than once. The mechanics were a bit confusing at first. Things didn't click until around mission 4. It could definitely use a game manual that explains the interface and provides some game play tips. I've played a couple missions with Taggins and Paragon and ended up playing through the rest with Kara. Later I'll try and post some tips but they basically are exactly what was already stated by xtrgrvyplz.
