Universal Iron Man 3 - The Official Game - (by Gameloft)

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by Sanuku, Apr 24, 2013.

  1. Yes. Yes I did

  2. I really like this game, especially on hdmi tv. It kinda reminds me of afterburner climax, which play much better on a big screen and play with music pumping through your stereo system.

It is a frantic experience playing with tv too, cause you have to look at your tablet alot to do the shot firing, so it is quite a blast.

Don't care for the wait timers at all, so probably won't support the inapps either, but heck this is one cool game, and really makes for a fantastic tv game.

I cant for the life of me, dodge those freaking missiles! Any tips? Also found it a bit better to go on gyro steering than touch...

If all missiles come from one direction, move to the opposite direction. If missiles come from both sides, there is a very high chance the safe spot is in the middle of them. There are times when they can clump together in the middle thoug, and i cant find a "tell" for it yet, which usually catches me off guard.

Not a guaranteed strategy, but it's a good start.

Timers are starting to get more bothersome. My fourth armor is Heartbreaker and it takes 8:30 for a repair. I think i average about 4 to 5 minutes in a run but i can get lucky a get up to almost 10 mins maybe.

Sucks having to use inferior armors when you know progress is bigger with your "timed out" gear.

I haven't played as much as you, but I was wondering if when I got better armors (still only three) the timers would start to be a pain since everything (costs, etc) escalates in this game.

I'd have paid 6.99 for this game and as I said before, I've been kinda sick of runners and was pleasantly surprised by this.

I only have a second tier frost charge armor and the repair is already over 8 minutes. I imagine using the highest tier armors will need more time to repair.

On the good side, it encourages the use of other armors... But the more obvious and more sinister effect, is that it doesnt let you play at your best, with your best, as you will be stuck with something inferior every few runs.

XP is not the problem here as they come in really fast. Stark credits to build the armors however are stupidly scarce, im not even sure if Gameloft ever playtested this balance. Or if they did, they just want you to chuck up more bucks at them.

Similarly to you, i still really love this game. But i am starting to feel the burn of the pay model. I did say im not going to spend anything on this, but my wife heard me cussing on this game and she said she'll buy me the 10 bucks worth of IAPs i intended to buy earlier. Not sure how far that'll take me, but it will help a little bit in this game.

Yeah I was wondering about Stark credits. I was surprised when I unlocked the third armor and saw I still had to pay 7k credits to build it. Not a ton, but i immediately thought 'I guess later I'll get some 50k credit ones'. Getting 7k was already 'grindy' enough for me because I usually only play two or three times tops each time I launch a runner no matter how much I like it (even The End App which I purchased the premium package because you said it was balanced and well that's a perfectly balanced game IMO with the 2.99, much more than the 4.99 coin doubler in Subway Surfers, at least for me who can't play this kind of game for hours like RPGs)

TheEndApp was well-balanced that each 2 to 3 runs will almost always give you enough to upgrade something. Also, the missions in it make it so that doesnt feel like a grind.

Subway Surfers has become more and more grindy as the game expands, but on the bright side, those who keep up with it are well rewarded. Without a doubler, SS would be pretty crappy as you cant do much with all your hard work.

This game seems better than SS in terms of grinding, but overall becomes worse because of timers, almost useless ISO-8 (or gems if you may) as you still have to buy stark credits to build stuff.

Iron Man 3 has great gameplay but pulled down by Gameloft's ravenous display of greed. You cant even build armors in a one-hour grind <-- took me over an hour to grind 65000 stark credits, mind.

Honestly I'm finding this game tons of fun and great in terms of graphics, sound and gameplay. My main issue which is dodging the missiles seem to something I'm getting used to more and more.

I am serious about that. For a runner game, this game is pretty good. Unique control scheme that works, great pace, great visuals, good sounds and voiceovers. This game tries to be a unique runner game and it nails it.

All that doesnt matter though, because of how greedy the game gets.

Reason i keep on posting "good but bad" about this game is that i really am enjoying it, but again, we all know why we shouldnt.

Aaaaaaand... I just managed to get my highest score so far, using an unupgraded Mk 17 - Heartbreaker armor. Pretty satisfying run, and as much as i want to, didnt use any revives because i didnt have much gems to use. Used my gems to convert to Stark Credits. :p

  13. Yeah, I agree, gameplay is great especially on tv. This game is a blast minus the wait timers. The sense of speed and motion is pretty cool. Plus it is pretty original for an endless runner.

Kinda like RR3, fun game kinda lost in a lot of junky garbage like wait timers. Hope this trend towards wait timers doesn't continue. But I am enjoying the game for now.

Wow this game sucks. Worst controls in a game ever. No matter if gyro or fingers, you constantly crash because of that stupid left right controls. Also if you use fingers you cant shoot and dodge at the same time. Completely crap.

Wow, I just realized it's not like Temple Run where you swipe to move left to right but where you have to move your finger the whole length of the screen and iron man follows it. Definitely harder on an iPad, and Im just using an iPad mini. Even a corner gamepad option would help... But this realization was a big help.

Holy crap, the movie is better than i expected!!!

LOL @ The Mandarin! Love how they played it out, and how they scripted him. Great movie, well worth the 3d glasses, the popcorn, and the soda that went with it!

LOL. Being sucky at a game doesnt mean the game is complete crap, even if it kinda is, in a good or bad way. :D:D:D
