It isn't too bad. I'm mostly enjoying it. The grinding is apparent, but the IAP isn't necessarily needed really. I'm back on the iPad4 with it, and now touch controls. Those two things have helped decently.
Timers are only to repair armors, and that problem is solved owning more armors or being better at the game (my part), so its still and endless runner. Of some sorts. Also agree with EP and other about the imbalanced air missiles, I hope thet get tweaked too. Other than that I will keep at it and defeat a couple more of baddies before deleting...
^Yeah... The game's a love it or loathe it type. Give it a try though. It's almost a great game, but Gameloft made it too grind-heavy-or-IAP to be easily recommended. The timers are a non-issue, but they do exist in this runner game which makes it annoying, and the file size isnt helping. As for the good, controls are good for what they are supposed to do (i personally play this with one finger, while my right hand is holding the minipad), the sounds and voicing are decent (although Tony Stark isnt the Robert Downey Jr type), the visuals are superb even on a non-retina screen (but i read in previous posts retina makes performance suffer) and overall a good game. Gameloft only showed greediness in this one, coz they know people will want to play it. Still, timers+heavy IAP is enough to turn most people off, but there are some like me who can put up with it if the game clicks.
As I had reached my patience threshold with this game, I decided to plop down all my crystals on a new suit. Now seeing you are using premium currency I assumed that would be all it took....NOPE! WARNING- if you spend crystals on armor you still need to build it with stark coins! INSTABYE!
Yeah, I can't believe it. I unlocked the armor, saw the build button pop up for like 50,000 Stark credits, closed the app and deleted it. Even if you spent the $100 to unlock them all, you couldn't use any of them. It's like they said "Lets make the best armor an almost unobtainable price...then double it." I thought you might be able to advance by buying one good armor with xp and credits, and the other with ISO-8.
OUCH!! I literally couldn't see myself spending a single cent on this game the way it is. Ok, maybe .99 for a doubler. hehe
I thought the whole point of Iron Man is that Tony Stark's a billionaire who can buy what he likes, when he likes.
Exactly what i had in mind. Looks like imma have to hold on to that $10 i was gonna spend for IAPs... Good thing i didnt yet, or this couldve bit back hard. Imma still keep playing this, but at least i know where i shouldnt put my money into. I still like the game, but now im not even sure if i should give them money as a thank you.
Saw this, read about it, and reinstalled the very first Iron Man game that came out with the first movie on my phone instead. If you bought that one, I suggest reinstalling it instead of trying to find room for this IAP fest. This game definitely looks better, but from what I hear the frame rate is not the best. This concept, though, could have translated into the perfect endless flyer... Such a shame it was turned into this.
Ha ha. It's true tho eh? Tony Stark not having enough money to buy a suit is plain ridiculous. That aside, this game is quite fun for what it is.
The graphics are pretty good and the suits look cool. No framerate issues on my ipad 3. You get more crystals for levelling up on the higher levels.
