    Lol they definitely fooled me the first couple times I played. They should go the more traditional route and make them red or something

    Darkest Nation: Tenbirds Interview

    Darkest Nation wrote one of our first reviews. I feel there is a lot of quality there, catering to their clan demographics and also to gamers that like innovative and challenging games. You should check it out for yourselves here.

  12. Quick Thoughts

    Absolutely, bar none, this is an amazing experience. I FINALLY understood it tonight, mostly ;) The graphics, the polish, all of that is OBVIOUS... I just was struggling with the gameplay. It DOES feel a little like the Monster Hunter game, which I have only dabbled with, but didn't know if that was a fair comparison.

    I'd downloaded and uninstalled this app probably 3-4 times before, because I just couldn't understand what was going on, TBH. The Sight, the Memory, etc. were odd terms that maybe my Western mind could just not grasp the translation :) I'm still not for sure why there are two different of these "resources" but I know if I add them to armors and weapons and such, they improve haha!

    Overall, though, as I've gotten into Chapter 2, with the difficulty of the creatures rising, the need to be a little more wise with how I battle... it's getting to be so much more fun.

    I do have one big confusion, though... the combo system. How exactly does that work? It says to push the buttons in sequence, but do I do it fast like in Street Fighter or let each movement finish before starting the next?

    I'm trying to figure out how to drop $10-15 in this game and get the most bang for my bucks. Is that $4.99 item in the store the way to go for this? Typically, like in a Foursaken Media game like Heroes & Castles II, I get the paid version then drop $15 or so in IAP... I just want to do justice to you guys for the effort.

    Holy crap... If not for brothamann's post above i wouldnt have checked this out. THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC. That is said in a first-2-hours-of-playing perspective of course. I cant say much about the freemium side of things, but for now, this game is tops in my book in terms of gameplay. I wish the levels were bigger, but i'd take the pseudo Monster Hunter gameplay right now and say that i love it.

  14. I figured you HAD already. It fits within similar genres as we seem to comment in some of the same forums.. I.e. Amazing hardcore games :D

    Combo & Forum

    @brothamannp11911 @Exact-Psience:
    Holy mother of pearl! Thank you for playing Ire, and for the comments!

    brothamannp1191, you sound like me when I first played Dark Souls. Wow, really, thank you for the patience and trying out our game again and again. Exact-Psience, thank you for jumping off the fence. As gamers, we know that that leap is a difficult one to take.

    Let me address the combo system first...

    The combo system and the input setting/speed is a little bit different for each weapons system, and of course, an individual's reaction time. If time and precision is an issue you may want to test combinations out by spamming the buttons just a little bit. Gauntlets and lances have a shorter window of frames to chain a combination. Swords have longer motions, so the window to chain a combination is just perhaps a fraction of a second longer. I personally play like Street Fighter or Tekken. There are more accomplished gamers that will chain combinations right before the movement is finished, but that kind of precision is beyond me.

    About the merch and cost efficiency. If you want to take this game for the long haul and don't mind the grinding, the rage rate is more than enough. Meeting Challenge requirements will definitely keep you well funded. You won't need much until you're in the late lvl30s or early 40s. A lot of the gamers also purchase Cloaks. Cloaks are limited items, and they change about every 2weeks. Though they have extra slots to imbue Mystical Shards (Skill Shards), not everyone uses them. In any case, we are grateful for the consideration you've shown in the post.

    For information and questions we have a couple of places you can visit: Facebook & a forum some of our friends have kindly made for Ire.

    - Ire: Blood Memory on Facebook
    - Ire Forum

    A handful of people are starting to post useful tidbits about the game on the forum--perhaps a good place to start.

    We haven't updated in a few weeks. We adjusted our plans for a huge update coming at the end of this year, which will address a lot of feedback that we have accrued during our soft launch/test phase since May. So if you have any comments or feedback to give, just let us know here, or on the forums. All right! Be well, ppl!

    I sometimes forget that Ire is one of the coolest and most entertaining games ever made for iOS. But as soon as I launch it again, I am lost in its dark depths.

    I haven't got all the intricacies of the Atone mechanics down, though. I have only searched for a Corrupt a handful of times myself, but when I opened the app up again now, I had a win/loss ratio of 1:12, and every single opponent that had flogged my purdy fanny had done so badly, with the help of vastly superior levels (often 10 above mine), and items at least one tier above mine (when I had one blue and the rest green, they were rocking all blue, etc).

    Is this the norm? Seems like it might be hard to maintain a positive win ratio when you are consistently targeted by players far superior in stats (and probably skill. I don't trust that bot ;) ).

    Minor issue, though. The system is still fun even if I can never hold a position in the rankings.

    Another rather random query: are there any plans for synchronous co-op? Perhaps a novelty among Ire's hardcore and competitive features, but one I think might be hugely popular among a cross-section of the player base (though I'd never hazard a guess as to how many we might be).

    Finally, a far-flung wish for future products and those rain-slick days when there is simply nothing else left to code, but I'd love to see a contiguous, open world with a greater focus on narrative and RPG elements, but with Ire's unrivalled combat mechanics, non-streamlined and un-dumbed-down. Whenever I get down to the business of bashing fools with weapons in any open world RPG for iOS , I found myself wishing I was back in Ire, comboing and timing and strategizing and skill-ing.

    (This goes doubly for MMORPGs. A persistent online mode/game powered by Ire's mechanics would be a dream that hasn't even properly been realized for desktop platforms. Age of Wushu Dynasty might be set to introduce something slightly similar, but I doubt it can hold a burned-out candle to Ire's dark majesty.)

    If nothing else, an additional mode for Ire where the players traverses larger, open areas, perhaps with a risk vs. reward mechanic of loot and xp that swells cumulatively the further we go, would be an awesome addition that would add flavour and variety, hopefully without breaking Ire's tight design and focused gameplay.

    Atonement Intro Vid and Feedback to Feedback

    @Ayjona:
    Here is a little something for you, straight out of our forum by player dso.

    A little over a month ago, players really started to find their way to reinforcing and imbuing shards to upgrade their equipment. After that all hell broke loose. S. Korean players have been uploading stats, builds, and walkthroughs onto their forum, and it's become a bloody massacre, in the best sense of the word attributed to gaming. Overseas players have started to follow suit, and I heard that checking up on a player's public info is useful in finding out what armour and weapons to use. We are really excited about the level of interaction the players in S. Korea have been having in their forum (Naver Cafe). The community is very constructive, classy, and clever. We hope that the English forum will be like that as our game grows and more players interact. So, yes, it is the norm. I haven't been able to get my hands on the gameplay stats, but a lot of blue and a lot of purple.

    As for getting a bit lost, we are hard at work trying to alleviate that, and that will come in our next big update. Also, we will be adding a type of co-op mode that is different from calling on your boon phantoms from the Shield of the Sentinels. Hence, new UI and huge update. We are overhauling and adding many new and important features. One of the feedbacks that was given the most was about new modes. You want new modes? We will make you new modes of gameplay. Hell, we've even scrubbed our initial dev schedule to accommodate just that. We are still on the fences in regards to anything real-time. A total open world game with visible narrative will probably become another project. The Ire-verse is actually quite broad and deep. It's all in there in the aesthetics, the naming, the items, so on and so forth. We'll take this at a leisurely pace. Actually, this is something that I personally want to dive right into at this time, but priorities hinder me from taking swift action. We have had nightlong debates and discussions on our next game being a package game--fingers crossed.

    Ire is a tricky game to produce. As you mentioned, we believe our gamers are very clever, and extremely intelligent, and advantageously cunning. That has proved to be the case time and time again. It is because we know how smart our gamers are we need to be very careful in how we grow our game. Every patch or update we do, we get a lot of critical and direct feedback in regards to balancing of mobs, items, level design and positioning. It can be quite daunting, if not frightening sometimes. There is still a long ways to go. We haven't done a grand release as of yet. Truthfully, this means that we are still in the testing phase of Ire. This means we've been live-testing this baby for a little over 4months now. I know most major game labels would say that it is a stupid thing to do--to do live-testing for so long. By no means does that mean we will have major system changes to Ire. It just means that the game is live, we are still building, we are still testing, and we are gearing up for the next stage.

    We really thank everyone for being a part of the development process and making Ire a lot better. And rock on, Ayjona. It's good to have you here.
