My iPod never wants to sync with my PC. I'm running the latest version of iTunes, yet when I plug my iPod in it will disconnect itself at will and it drains the battery instead of charging it. Also, recently I've noticed that there is no orange "other" icon at the bottom in my iPod's capacity bar. It's just music (blue) and apps (green). When I click 'sync' it takes forever to "back-up." iPod 2nd Gen - 14.52 GB - iOS 3.1.3 Also, when I try to update, it will start the update and time out, I've researched this problem and the answer I've come up with is that my PC is running a wireless connection and it said that the connection is too slow, which is why when I update it just times out. Can anyone please help me? Is there something I'm doing wrong that will make my iPod actually behave for once? One more thing: for the past 2 days my iPod threw a temper tantrum and shut off and wouldn't start back up. I would press the lock button and the apple logo would appear (but no loading bar) and then it would shut off. I plugged it into my computer and it did the same thing, iTunes didn't even recognize it as being plugged in. I tried charging it through my wall charger and it nothing would happen, it would shut off like everything else. Last night, I turned it on again and then held the home+lock buttons down and repeated it 3 times, and it started back up. Thanks for your time and patience- -Brian
This happened to me too pretty much. I figured it was because I was Jailbroken but everyone else seemed to have no problem at all. I think iPod Touch/iPhones just hate PC's cause they never seem to work well together at all. I had to update my iPod Touch at work since my computer is plugged in through ethernet cable. My wireless at home on my laptop runs about 300 kbs/second and even with that speed, iTunes was only letting me download the update at like 50kbs/second. Therefore it timed out halfway through. Though I must say once I updated to 4.0 (even jailbroken) everything syncs up and acts like it should... I know this isn't much help but if you can get on a landline it probably would help a lot. Hope things work out better for you man... I know just how frustrating this sh!t is.
Thanks for the response, but I'm not jailbroken. I'll try to run a cable from the router to my computer, hopefully that will work!
Wow, so I got it back on, and tried to sync it again. It synced but none of my applications carried over. (error: 0xE800005E). So I googled it and it said to restart your iPod, which I figured, "Meh, it's fixed now, why not?" I restarted my iPod and Boom. Instant brick: AGAIN. Now I read this thing that I hold down home+hold for 10 seconds, then let go of the hold button. Now my iPod is being recognized by iTunes in recovery mode! FML, F APPLE, and F IPODS.
