My touch will not connect AT ALL to my desktop, but works fine on my laptop. So it is definitely not the cable... I can't even charge it on my desktop. Any suggestions? Google yielded nothing.

It's a problem with your USB port on your desktop. Try reinstalling the drivers, or google up how to reinstall ipod drivers on your desktop.

Well ALL of my other USB devices work on the same USB ports. Not sure why ONLY the iPod won't work. I guess I will try looking around for that.

Because there are specific drivers for iPods and iPhones. So yu have all the drivers for your other gear, but not for your iPod.
