My ipod touch 2G displays full bars of wifi. But, I cannot load the app store, mail, weather, or any app that uses internet. I know it isn't my wifi problem, since safari on my iMac works fine. I HAVE tried restarting, and rebooting. Is there any solution to make my wifi actually work??? Thanks for any help! I know it probably isn't affecting anything, but the temperature is around 90-some here in Cali... will that affect my tech in any way? EDIT: Should I back up my ipod touch 2g, and then restore from that backup? Maybe that'll work...
I know it isn't a wifi problem since it works everwhere else (my iMac, my roomate's, etc.). I have tried unplugging then replugging the router, but it didn't work... I really think its a technical issue on my ipod touch. your opinion?
I usually reboot my iPhone or disable and re-enable WiFi. Also I find the most reliable WiFi setup is to disallow all connections except those where you have added the MAC address to a whitelist.
At the risk of sounding simplistic...have you tried connecting to the internet at a wifi hotspot? (like a Starbucks, for example.) I was also having a problem with my Touch when I used it at home, but I was able to connect at a Starbucks, so I realized that the problem was not with my Touch, but with the home wifi. The Touch would show all the bars, but I was unable to connect to the app store, or any other site--just got an error message. It would simply not connect at home. So I set up an ad hoc network at home, and it works fine, but only if it is an unsecured network. Certainly not the best solution, but good enough for a quick app download. If you check other websites, you will see that many people have had the same problem, so you might want to check some of the solutions that worked for them. I really am interested in whether you are able connect at an outside wifi hotspot...
try using your routers MAC address as the password - I had to do this when I first got my touch, now it works flawlessly.
How about restore your iPod? Set up as new, and if it works, then if you want to go back and restore from backup, do so. If it stops working after that, then it's obvious that we have a problem with some setting in the iPod. You could go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
Could be you have a lot of Internet traffic. On your computer it may be fast, but ipod is at the very least 4 times slower than your computer (comp speed also affects your speed at retrieving information). Maybe you have a lot of people using the Internet at the same time, or some program like bittorrent? Is your network secure - as in it's password protected so not everyone in the vicinity can use your wifi?
