Something weird happened. It was working this morning, functional for the most part, but suddenly in the middle of the day, I turn it on and it's WHITE. I just updated my ipod touch but that didn't do anthing.

If I were to go to Apple, would they replace the ipod on the spot? I have an Ipod 3g, 32gb, and had it since last April. So I have a couple of months left of warranty. Would they possibly give me a 4g if they were to exchange?

edit: I eventually got it exchanged. Thanks for the suggestions.

It happens to me sometimes to, it's not a big deal. Just let your iPod sit and the problem will work itself out.

I don't think it would fix itself if a reboot, update, and restore did nothing. :/

    Off to apple store tomorrow!

If you let the battery run out then the iPod will have to shut off, then you can charge it and it should work. Again, this is based on my experience, so your problem my be slightly different, but I would try letting the battery run out before going to Apple.

I had this problem a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly, I just let the battery drain flat and recharged it and it worked again.

I brought it to the Apple store and they replaced it with a "new" refurbished one, which is great, because my battery seemed like it was dying too. Only lasted half a day. So all is good!

Nice! Though if I were you I would have asked if I could trade it in for credit towards payment for an itouch 4G. I wonder if they would have let you do that....

You should be able to force a power off by holding down the home and sleep button for a few seconds, if it ever happens again.

Thats exactly the way for a quick shutdown, my ipod stuck when i opened a game... i swear this is the fastest way :D 30-50 seconds and your iPod battery is from 100% down on 0 and everything works again :)

I had this too on my second generation iPod and NO ONE could help me at all. Later, I found out it was lOose wiring to the touch screen. If I pressed really hard on the screen near the home button, it faded back in and out of "consciousness". It would show the screen and then hours later it would go white again. So I pressed the screen down hard some more. Till eventually nothing worked and I bought a 4th Gen Hahahah. Really sucked though.

That sucks. I'm guessing you didn't have warranty?

Man. I'm loving my new ipod touch. The battery lasts triple what I previously had. And I'm using iOS4, which is so much better -- easier to multitask! Is it me or are the graphics a lot smoother on OS4?

    I'm a happy camper!
