My wife's iPod touch 4th gen which I use was left in water (ok, I left it in a tiny bit of water on the kitchen bench - it was me). I finally dried it out and everything works except for bluetooth which is the only thing I used on it. So, I want to get another one but was thinking isn't a next release of the iPod touch due?. Does anyone know if this is the case and when its likely to happen?
It hasn't been announced yet. I think Apple considers the model they released early October to be their 5th gen. iPod. There's a new color, a better camera, etc. Not sure when a "real" 5th gen. iPod is coming out though. Sadly, it might be next fall. If not, it'll be early spring when they release the new model for the iPad.
I did hear a rumour at one point that a new model was coming out this month. Perhaps it was just that.
Sorry to correct you, but the "new" iPod Touch this year is exactly the same as the one from last year, except it's now also available in white. Otherwise nothing has changed.
Sorry to correct, but the new white iPod only has 3.5mm mini-jack and Wi-Fi sync, no USB plugging spot.
It also has high-def recording and a better camera..it's on the Apple website DK. It's a new model, not just a new color.
The white iPod Touch still has the Usb plugging spot, I'm looking at it right now. It doesn't have a better camera, it doesn't have a better anything, its the exact same thing. Apple still considers/calls it the 4th generation iPod Touch.
3.5mm mini-jack? What? Wifi sync is enabled through software, hence why my iPad 1, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G (from last year) has wifi sync. No USB plugging slot? How in the world would it charge? Lmao. @backtothis The iPod Touch 4G from last year has HD recording, in 720p. So unless it's gone up (which I doubt because I havent heard anything about it), I'm pretty sure its the same.
confirmation here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2179701,00.asp this is the same as the black ipod Touch 4g. It's exactly the same.
Yeah, Chris and Sky are correct. The only thing different with the iPod Touch this year is a new color. That's it. No internal improvements at all, aside from being preloaded with iOS 5 (which isn't that great IMO).
Well, I don't have it myself, but a electronics site where I looked at said syncing through Wi-Fi and only the headphones place which is 3.5mm mini-jack. They could have been mistaken, but that's exactly what I'm seeing here: http://www.gigantti.fi/product/tv-ja-aani/mp3-soittimet/IPODMD057T8GW/ipod-touch-8-gb-valkoinen
I can't believe Amazon and its prices sometimes. Sometimes they're good but sometimes they're... TerriBAD. I just posted in the latest iPod Touch thread to be safe from bumping, but look at the price of the older device (I just had to edit this because I noticed that I rhymed). http://www.amazon.com/Apple-touch-Generation-Previous-Model/dp/B001FA1O0E/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1322527621&sr=1-13
If you were selling your own product, a Kindle Fire, wouldn't you price perceived competition higher than your price? Also, regardless of their age, Apple products don't depreciate nearly as much as other other electronics. All people seem to care about is that it says Apple.
I have been waiting to upgrade from my 2nd gen touch for a while now. I am mad that my white ipod touch (which is being shipped, bought it on black friday) doesn't have the A5 in it. I just wish they had mad an ipod touch 5th gen and put the A5 in it. oh well now i can finally play all those apps my good old 2nd couldn't
I nearly caved and bought an iPod Touch this year during Black Friday, but considering the A5 chip, I'm going to hold out one more year and hope that the next gen comes next year with some significant improvements.
