My touch lost its 'tilt' function today, reset the device and it came back all ok but is this something I should be seriously worried about or just y'know, one of those things that can happen every now and then and a reset fixes this kinda thing?

reboot it and if the problem still persists you need to find somewhere where you can hang upside down (a tree branch for example) and then you need to slowly rotate it counter-clockwise until it comes back.

No offence but is this a serious response?

Yes. I know it sounds silly, but it totally works. It solved my tilt problem on my original iPhone. It's the way they reset the accelerometer in the factory if they get a device with a faulty accelerometer. When the accelerometer occasionally gets stuck, you can reset it in this way. The reason you have to hang upside down while doing it is so it isn't accidentally reset when you are using it normally.
