    I was just reading on
engadget about how the lockscreen and a few other graphics were appearing corrupt on Ipods with the newest Firmware installed and worrying as it sounds I think mines fine I've had 4.3 since it launched so I guess third gens are safe.

But reading through the posted comments I'm reading things that are even more disturbing to me about 4.3 breaking accessorys that worked beforehand like for instance Griffin Navigate control/Belkin Chargers presumably more third party things as well, and to me it's actually sounding like Apple are starting to get as bad as Sony.

I'm just wondering do apple have a history of breaking compatibility with things like this because I have been considering buying things like docks etc before and if an update stopped them from working I'd be a bit more than simply angry about it.

I think if they were intentionally going to resrict 3rd party use they'd issue a press release. It's not particularly good press but even the likes of Sony and Microsoft have done so when they decided to remove support. They'd suffer less by telling people than by keeping it a secret and letting people continue to purchase goods that don't work.

I guess it's possible it's just a coincidence or maybe even trolls on that site I just know I'd be annoyed If an IOS update stopped an expensive piece of hardware working.

It does sound far more like something Sony would do than apple.

Firmware updates haven't broken 3rd party peripherals that I can recall, although it's true that new models of iPods/iPhones have at least once resulted in some 3rd party peripherals not being usable with them. But that was new hardware. I really doubt that Apple would intentionally break 3rd party peripherals with a firmware update.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, only that I doubt it was intentional if so. It's more likely, if this happened, that the 3rd party peripheral was breaking some guideline that Apple had put in place, one that they said could in the future be a problem, and then the firmware update brings about some aspect that does exactly what Apple said would happen, and something that the 3rd party shouldn't have ignored. I.e. the complaint should go to the 3rd party product maker, not Apple.

I have been experiencing odd graphical things as well. Like my WiFi signal always looks like it's corrupt, or if I get a notification, at least from my exchange calendar, while my iPod is plugged into the computer, the notifications are all error-like. If I take a screenie though, it appears normal, which is weird enough as it is.

I've experienced this several times. the status bar and loading icon would become rainbow-colored and start flickering. it's a bit annoying but it only happened to me like 2-3 times and only for a couple seconds each.

I'm getting the rainbow at the top of lockscreen and lines across the wifi signal on occasion too. At least i didn't break something in my ipod like i thought before.

wifi Trouble with iOS 4.3 and Qwest

Since update to iOS 4.3 I am unable to join my Qwest wireless network (Actiontec PK5000 modem/router) if the iTouch 4th generation wifi is turned off and back on or if I join an external network like one at Starbucks and then return home and try to join my home network. Rebooting the modem is the only thing that seems to enable me to rejoin the network.

Seems like it might be a problem with your router's settings.

I've been getting flickering on the WiFi/charge icons since acquiring my replacement iPod from Apple. Doesn't seem to do any harm but I'd like it fixed nonetheless.

I'm leaning toward the new update that effected my device earlier as I had no issues prior. Device was fine for two days and then it became slow and lagging when booting up games or an app, then flickering lights and finally had my screen get super huge so that it only showed a small corner of the actual size screen.
Did a hard re-set and still a huge screen and had to finally do a complete restore. Since then I've had no issues but been holding my breath since. Also some games won't load now like the hidden object game Sprill for example.

Little miffed as all my games didn't get backed up because I tried to use the current one only to see the huge screen was back so its now empty of any scoring and achievements.
