      sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere

      i heard (i think it was in these forums) that apple is dropping the price of the previous generation of ipod touches to 99$

      is this true? do you know when this would happen? or did i just dream about this and subconsciously somehow made it all up myself? :D

      I haven't heard that. And I'm pretty sure they didn't do that.

      They made the iPhone 3G $99 though is what you may have gotten mixed up with. Which apple dropped when the newer iPhone came out and was announced at WWDC.

      I'm sure in september you will see the 2nd gen touch have a price drop though.

      Isn't the first gen touch almost useless now? App wise, at least. It's the slowest of the bunch.

      A first gen iPod is useless. And the 3G is coming out soon.

      not useless

      I own a 1st generation ipod touch and it works perfectly with all the apps I own. that includes need for speed, myst, zenonia, etc. Its not useless.

      They won't drop price, they will just not sell them anymore once the 3rd generation comes out September. Plus it costs £86 to make an iPhone, (although they're different hardware) so I doubt they'd sell it low

      yeah, 1st gen ipod is far from useless, i've had mine since it first came out and it's never once frozen, needed to be restored, anything like that. and i've jailbroken and bought over 300 apps for it, no problems at all

      just wish there wasn't a snobbish culture surrounding 'old' technology when it's updated at the same time as all the other idevices anyway :|
