I've had this issue a few days now and it seems to be getting gradually worse. Sometimes when I press the home button to wake the device from sleep mode the screen doesn't respond and I can't unlock it. It then goes back to sleep and usually works the second time.

Now it's started happening on the springboard too, I unlock it and none of the icons will respond, I can't scroll left or right and I can't drag down the notifications panel. The last time it happened the entire screen went black for about 5 seconds except the taskbar along the top.

Is this an issue with 5.0.1? Anyone else had the same problem? I'm hoping the most I'll have to do is restore the device, 'cause taking it into a store would be a total pain this close to Christmas.

    Restoring it should be sufficient.

I just thought of something... it seemed to happen soon after changing my wallpaper image for the first time ever. Since my images are all .png (I'm not a monster), maybe they're too large for the device to handle? I think my current one weighs in at about 1.3 MB but I'd always assumed it'd convert the images if large filesizes were too much strain.

I've had my iPod since it first came out and I experience your problem on occasion. I also get safari crashes constantly lately, and all different types of lag. It might have something to do with the over 1,000 pics I have, the 7 email accounts, or the 23 profiles installed on my device.

Who knows; maybe it's just Apple.

I know they're currently responsible for my battery problem!...:(...

    AND BACK TO PISSED!!!

iOS 5 just sucks balls. I've had all sorts of issues since updating. Some of them get resolved after a strange combination of syncs and hard resets, but what does not change is the fact that reading a webpage for more than fifteen minutes makes me drop from 80% to 20%.

Keep having strange issues with IOS 5 myself it's just a buggy mess in truth I noticed I had greyed out music tracks again yesterday despite resyncing them all when I first upgraded.

The only thing I like about it at all is the notification screen they stole from android.

Also when I first upgraded I had issues with big picture files when using coverflow I don't think the devices have the free ram to cope with them now so maybe it is the background.

I have the same exact problem you mentioned.
    It's an iOS5 bug.

Same bug as you have too! iOS 5 bug or wallpaper? Cause I did change my wallpaper to one I got from 100,000 wallpapers free and after that it got slow. Maybe I'm paranoid, maybe it's just iOS 5...

Anyway, yeah, sometimes it doesn't respond to home button when it's on sleep/settings/springboard.

just saw your post. Yup, safari crashes constantly lately and different lags. And I have 1GB left and nearly no pics and music(8GB, you know). I think it's iOS 5.0.1's fault.

Yeah, it's starting to get super annoying. Apple takes 10 years to make, or at least, release new stuff, so I would think it would be less buggy. but what do i know! :)

I also have an 8 gig because I thought the iPod 5g was coming out this year. Now with the impressions thread I have to do a lot of deleting.

Yeah I know the feeling. I hate my 8GB. Had to remove literally half of my games for IB2 to fit and since I already bought it, there was no going back.

Well at least I'm not alone! People seem to moan about bugs and glitches with every iOS update, but this is the first one I've actually noticed myself.

Yeah, back on my old 3GS everything ran smoothly. *sigh* But that was a different time. Oh, how I recall those days when YouTube worked properly and I didn't have to reset my device every other day.

Get your shit together Apple or stop conspiring against us!
