I'm thinking of selling my iPod touch to someone which is a 4th gen 8gigabyte in pretty good condition for around $160. I have like an extra 10 dollars to add up for a nintendo 3ds. Should I sell my ipod to get a 3ds? What do you think?

You have $10 saved up? How are you going to afford the $40 games then?..

If that leaves you without an iOS device of any kind, then hell no. The only games I find fun on the 3DS are Nintendo's first-party titles. I'd go with my 4th gen. iPod any day.

The games generally have much higher production values, but there's just no variety. You're probably not going to find more than 5 games you'll actually really like. On the iOS, you might be able to find something that you love on a weekly basis for a much cheaper price.

If you're not using the iPod anymore, why not? If you still enjoy iOS games, then no I wouldn't trade it in for another system.

I have both a 3DS and an iphone and I agree with backtothis completely. The Appstore just offers more, even if what it offers may not be as good per se.

If it were me and the reason was for gaming, I would personally go with a 3ds. Yeah the games are more expensive but you get what you pay for and the prices on non first party titles do drop after a couple months. There's also Resident Evil, Mario, and Kid Icarus which all blow 99.9% of whats on the appstore out of the water.

That is if you ONLY use your device for gaming. If you use it for other stuff then I suggest keeping the ipod.

I'll break it down for you simply:

Buy a 3DS. Buy a $40 game that you enjoy. Play said game for a year or more.

Buy an iPod Touch. Buy a couple $0.99 games. Play said games for only a couple days.

That's how it is for me at least. DS games last much longer than iDevice games no doubt.

Buy forty $0.99 games spread across the same year, buying about a game a week and compare who gets more value and variety.

The person who has the most fun for their money gets the most value. That could be either the 3DS or the iOS gamer, depending on your tastes.

If you listen to alot of music and play casual games then grab the ipod touch , but if you like awesome 3d gameing experiance then grab a 3ds.... kid icarus is amazing and you wont find that on any Idevice. Personally, If i am in a gameing mood i play the 3ds or vita...and when i am on the go and wasting time on break or traveling, I like the iphone/ipod touch/ipad

The games tend to be un-memorable or simple time wasters, IMO. Go 3DS of you prefer gaming over multimedia.

I can't even think of forty $0.99 games I'd buy at the same time. Plus, most of the good iOS games cost $5+ (typically about $7). Kind of a lame, misleading argument.

I think I'd probably acquired a couple of hundred IOS games and even quite a few I haven't even played Truthfully I think I was more collecting than actually enjoying any of them there very few I actually did play and fewer still I bothered with completing.

With the exceptions of Kairosoft games, Tower Defense games and Galaxy on Fire 2 I think every other game on my itunes was probably played once for a couple of minutes then forgotten.

I'd say the iPod Touch because while it feels like only $10 more for the 3DS, remember that the games each cost 10-20 times as much.

I've used a 3DS and the 3D effect you stop noticing after a while, and the low-res screen just looks bad compared to the iTouch. I think Zelda and Mario are great but other than that there's not much on there I can think of that you can't get a good, cheaper iOS alternative to...

Stuff like Rayman 3D appears on iPhone (as the original title Rayman 2) and it is packed with great platform games etc. if you bother to search, and there's also the fact that there's less limits to the controls thanks to the touch screen - if you need two analog sticks, the game will give you two virtual analog sticks, whilst on a 3DS you gotta buy the addon for that.
