Ok, Here's how it happened. I put the iPod in my back pocket. When I took it out, the top left part was cracked. It is a small crack(pic failed to upload, so here's the lodown. Top left corner, is the only part that is cracked, and pretty severely. There is a 1/4 by 1/4 inch hole *you can see through to inner workings* in the top left only 1 crack on the screen itsself), but nonetheless the Apple dude on the phone said it was "accidental" and therefore not covered by my warranty. The iPod was bought in December of last year. Our friends at Apple want $150 to replace the screen. What can I do? And to clarify to Apple accidental means that its not their fault (i.e. I wasn't placed under mind control by Steve Jobs to throw my iPod on the ground and then not remember) OK: I took my iPod to the Apple store, and after a 20 minute wait, I met a dude there that looked about as stone cold as can be. I took up my iPod, told him my story, and by the time I was done, I had a new iPod touch in my hands. THANK YOU APPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are a few options. -Get the replacement for $150 -Get a new device -Or try this: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10264939-49.html I don't know if it'll work for the 4th gen, but you can find another screen online and use the same method if it works. -Found another one. http://www.drcellphone.com/iphone-repair-service.php?gclid=CJ2Kx_C1ppkCFREhDQodGBzApg This one is at least cheaper than Apple's option. Should be around $100 if the LCD isn't broken. Edit: But then again, the drcellphone site is for iPhones >.>
Consider getting it fixed by a repair company. It'll probably void your warranty with Apple, but you might be able to negotiate a new one with the repair company, and it should be considerably cheaper.
Replace it yourself. It's probably fairly easy. I replaced my 3GS's battery by myself, and it wasn't that big of a hassle. It's much cheaper, too. Just look for online tutorials, but make sure you know what you're doing.
