Is it really worth upgrading from a 2G to a 3G? I can cover a lot of the cost by selling my old iPod, but it will still leave me a good $100-150 (AUD) out of pocket. By the way, I would like the opinion of someone who has actually upgraded.
It has an FM module (Not supported yet) and a most likely slightly faster processor than the 3GS. (It has the successor of the 3GS processor) 3GS has 339S0073ARM, Ipod 3G has the 339S0075ARM. I for one will wait until the next generation is out next year before I upgrade from my ipod 2g.
not worth it at the moment, you wont see MUCH games at all utilizing the new technology untill the next iphone is out because by then most people would have switched over but as of now, most people are on the 'old' tech still hold off one more year
Good point, your have 1GEN and 2GEN Touch and iPhone out there, and devs to make two versions of an APP or GAME for to models, is just nuts. Save your self the dough and wait. I felt the same way, new ipod I had to have it, not this time, I'll wait!
Based in my experience if going from a 1st Gen iPhone to a 3Gs, I would say that if you have a 1st Gen iPod Touch you will be stunned at the difference the new processor and graphics make on the 3rd Gen -- even in games not specifically designed for it. As an example, Katamari went from unplayable to pretty great in the 3Gs. IMHO the upgrade is definitely worth it for 1st gen iPod Touch owners.
get a job bro. mow some lawns, unclog toilets, get into the black market trade (just kidding) do something for money
Hmmm, I have an original iPhone 2G. I feel that I do kinda need to upgrade, but I don't want to carry around a touch as well as a phone. I think I will just get the 3GS when I can afford one.
This may help your decision. I just upgraded from a 6 month old 8g 2g Touch to a 32g 3g Touch. They look and feel the same. In fact there is nothing on it noting that it is a gs. That is, until you play some games. Games like Hero of sparta, and Castle of magic, Air coaster, etc are a noticable improvment. In fact, I would say it seems like those titles have twice as much power running them. Also, screen navigation is smoother. Battery usage seems similar to 2g touch (kind of surprised it wasnt less). If gaming is important to you on this device , as it is for me, then it is an upgrade you should consider. It is amazing to see such a small device run these games so well.
Is there any pics of the iPod touch 3g? I'm getting one for christmas and selling my iPhone because the iPhone is too expensive to keep.
True. And that's also the reason why i'm holding it off. maybe the next iPhone on 2010 would have dual core processors and an even faster graphics thingy. just a speculation though, but i'm holding on to my 3G until the next iPhone comes out
yeah I have the 1st gen touch and was ready to get the 3rd gen at launch. Inlight of the lack luster improvments & the disappointment of the missing rumored camera I'm going to hold off till the next Sept. Unless some new features/apps come around that I can not live with out I'm not going to upgrade.
Apple.com you might be able to find one pic. I have the 64 gig, it's amazingly fast!!!! I bought a 2nd gen took it back and got the new 64. I noticed a lot of difference it's even faster than my girlfriend's 3G S
