So I'm gunna be upgrading to 3.0 in a few days and I've heard that the touch 2g like I have can now support Bluetooth. I think that's pretty amazing but kinda dissapointed with apple for holding out on us this whole time. Anyways, I was wondering, for the people who have already upgraded, what type of blue tooth device will work with it? Is it just headphones that work or will also the Bluetooth headsets used on most phones today for phone calls. This would help me alot because I would really like to use the different features my Touch is capable of with a mic without buyin the expensive apple mic headphones. So back to the topic if you have an iPod touch 2g and tried the new Bluetooth feature what were your experiances? What type of devices did you try, what worked and what didn't. Leave a comment an let me know. Thanks! -mikeG
my touch won't find my bluetooth headset. I don't think apple let's you use headsets so people aren't using it for skype or anything else like that. I was excited for that too. o well
Ah I see, well hopefully there will be a jailbreak for that haha. Ya I figured apple would do that... Has anyone found something that actaully works?
Wow... That was brilliant... I am sorry to tell you that I have a Motorola S9 headset and mic is not recognized... Pair and sound is great but you can only hear and not talk. One thing I was excited about was being able to use the headset to talk over Skype but... Lets hope that either Apple or a Skype app update fix this. I have emailed Skype, if they ever answer me I will let you know. There are many people complaining about this on Skype and Apple forums, it must be fixed.
I forgot... What's the difference between a wired or a wireless headset anyway?? I mean, if you can use Skype to make calls with a wired headset on the ipod touch, why the hell not with a bluetooth headset????????
Alright thanks for the heads up cmass. And I know it doesn't make any sense for them to do that. Watch in a couple months they will announce special bluetooth headphones and mic made especially for the iPod touch. Well thanks again and keep me posted!
you need a headset capable of a2dp. There are several Bluetooth headphones sets and a few single sided headsets that have this support. I have a few, the headset off of my decoy, logitech freepulses, I know there are a Sony and panasonic model, and I have a cheap soyo model I got off a woot. I don't know if any of em work, I have a first gen touch.
Well i just checked the apple forums for myself and it seems that some people have gotten their Bluetooth headphones to work but none of them have been able to get the microphones on them to work. It seems that either apple didn't put any effort at all into that part of the update or are just planning another money makng scheme. I'll wait for more information about this from apple themself before I judge though
