My son's iPod Touch (8g 3g and not jailbroken) keeps asking for it to restore to an earlier date. And I don't understand why. It was formatted originally thru iTunes. But he's downloaded and played a lot of games via wi-fi since he last connected to iTunes. So he'd lose a lot of gamesaves, etc. It works just fine as well so I don't see why it needs to be "restored"

I had the same issue once (8g 2g), but thankfully, it was only one days worth of data that I lost.

Any suggestions on why this occurs and if there's any way to fix it without losing what gamesaves and data he's accumulated since last using the iTunes software? I hate iTunes in general as it is constantly locking up, etc.

-Lol, just backup your data (right-click your son's ipod name, then click backup), common sense should lead you to the rest)

    -Then click Restore

-After it's done downloading, click your backup restore when it tells you if you want to backup any files

-Since he has a jailbroken device, if he has any SNES games or GBA games on there with saved files, then you will have to SSH them (SSH is a program of which it helps you manage files) to your computer

You do know that once you turn the iPod off and then back on (and the iPod is a 3rd gen jailbroken iPod) you need to plug it back into the computer and go to Blackra1n and click 'Make it Ra1n'. Your iPod should work now.
