Hey guys, I have got a friend that has an issue with itunes recognizing his ipod touch 2g. He is running on vista and I think the latest version of itunes. Any suggestions on how to get his ipod to be acknowledged? I have tried to get him to restore it but it is in DFU but itunes won't recognize to restore. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alex
Well as he tried to update is asked if he wanted to replace itunes? What should he say? I guessed yes, then it asked if you want to completely remove and we said no, it then responded by saying it was interrupted and we must try again later. Any ideas on what happened or what we should answer?
Hey guys, well I just spent most of the night trying to fix it for him to no luck. I think that what I have found is that the USB port is busted somehow, but I have no idea why. The weird thing is that the USB port recognizes other ipods and even lists the ipod as a camera, the issue is that it is not acknowledged on itunes. I am thinking that the ipod is missing a driver but I don't know how to get one. I have reinstalled itunes multiple times and it even works on other computers. Does anyone have any ideas?
I thought that iTunes was pretty much self contained on all OSs. I don't see how a driver or the like could be missing. Have you checked the iPod's port and the cable? Make sure something isn't dented or something? Not sure about this, but is there maybe a block that's keeping software for the iPod to download?
Is it the computer that he usually uses? It seems like he's connecting to a computer he doesn't usually sync with. If the computer has different music, apps, etc. then you need to re-sync the data from the current computer and delete the data from the old one.
Well, he is trying to get it to run on a new computer that he just got. So,I think that the new computer already has all the files from the last one, but the issue is that it won't show up to sync on itunes. That is what I don't understand.
