My ipod battery is pretty much gone. It lasts less than half an hour and will lose it charge in less then a day when i dont use it. What should I Do?

I think my warranty has expired. I do have the money do buy a new one but i dont now if i should just wait until the 5th generation comes out. I was planning on buying a laptop and a PSP2 or 3ds.

Ant ideas of what i should do. Replace or wait?

Just wait for 5th generation to come out. I don't know why your battery seems so poor- I got my 3rd gen the day it came out and sill lasts a good while even with multi-tasking, full brightness and wi-fi always on.

This might be the memory bug that has appeared with iOS 4.xx. When a app crashes, it doesn't clear your memory completely, so it keeps draining your battery life.

Do a hard restart to clear memory (close all multitasking apps first, of course)-- hold down the sleep button until the red slider appears, then turn it off and back on. Do this every time an app crashes and it should help.

It's the battery breaking down. It's a natural fact of life and effects all devices given enough use. You can get a repair company to replace it or buy a new device.

Could be the memory effect on the battery, if you leave it plugged in too much.

Basically the device sees the battery as dead because the point where it normally reads as dead has gone up because of contantly being on the charger. That's why they always tell you to fully charge and fully drain the battery of things when you first get them, so the device can establish the high and low charge levels.

But you have had apps crash before. When was the last time you restarted your iPod?

I'm thinking it's probably just dead. You're supposed to get, on average, 500 cycles of a Lithium Ion battery and it's been 17 months... that could equal 500 if you used it enough, a charge per day on average.
