    well iv been reading all these ipod release threads from the blogs and reading the comments which are usually more laughs than anything.. i can amuse my self with ease i guess. lol.. anyhow one thing people want in the touch that comes up over and over besides the camera..

    they want a gps chip? whats the point with out having away to connect to the internet? i mean, the gps chip the phone uses uses the cell towers.. not like your other gps dedicated models which use a different chip..

    so i think people just get confused on what most cell phone use for gps chips.

  2. The iPhone uses the cell towers to assist in being able to locate you more quickly, if less accurately until it connects to a satellite, which is why it is referred to as having A-GPS (assisted GPS) rather than just GPS, which relies on satellites only.

    Without the cell towers it can still track. It just takes longer to connect to the satellite and establish position.
