I keep thinking that two virtual analog sticks (a la Sparta / iDracula) would be perfect for a FPS but then realising how would shooting be accomplished. If the iPhone/iTouch had small triggers on the right hand side so that when you rotated it landscape there were like L1 and R1 on a PS controller it would be an ideal solution.

If you have Brothers in Arms, there's a 3rd control option that mimics dual analog. There's buttons on top for shooting, as is employed in the other control methods. IMHO, the 3rd control option is the best in that game. I was pulling off kills quicker.

    ...

And the triggers on the Dual Shock suck big time anyway. Give me actual triggers any day of the week (ala DC and XBox). Heck...the symmetrical analog sticks on the Dual Shock suck too compared to the better asymmetrical design used by MS and Nintendo (or that was used by Nintendo on GC). Hell...the dpad on Sony's controller sucks too (for SF and KoF 2D fighters).

    ...

Damn it...Sony really ought to look into changing that archaic ass design. The only people that seem to think Dual Shock is optimal are those nurtured on Sony's Playstation branded teet. :p

Yep, and Carmack even shot down the method I was thinking of, having triggers on the top right/left while playing landscape and tapping with the side of your index finger. I recall reading about a game that let you shoot by tapping the back of the iDevice. Why not use that?

Thanks Pante! I hope the approval process doesn't take too long. :)

I hope Commander Data can make that Wolfenstein video.

ID Games for the Iphone/Itouch this is Great news; Castle Wolf 3D was never my favorite but will most likely buy it and for sure will buy Doom.

Was the commander Keen and Heretic/Hexan games theirs too or were they exclusive to 3D realms, Apogee and Raven software?

keen belongs to apogee, id developed them, but apogee (the publisher) would have to give the okay to release em since technically they are in their library.

Well .. it looks exactly the same as in PC .. the controls are pretty smooth .. also, user can move by titling the iphone in the required direction .. a total of 6 episodes .. yet to finish them :)
