I carry an iPod touch and a Blackberry phone in my pocket together. Despite the bulkiness, I wouldn't mind a 4-inch screen. But I certainly can't carry anything bigger than that around for gaming on the go. That in fact is a big minus in my list for PSP vita.

And seven inch tablets as per me do not make much sense. They are too big to be comfortable in pockets, even if they do fit. And if you are going to carry them around in a bag, I'd much rather take a 10-inch tablet for better overall experience. The only thing 7-inch tablets would be better for is reading books. That too, is not all that inconvenient on the iPad.

Really, Most trouser pockets can consume a 7-inch tablet. But it's not fun to have 'em in there. It's another story to try and fit them in a jeans pocket

@Hodapp: That'd be good enough to carry an iPad in it!

I totally agree, the point I was trying to make in the first place is that a 4"+ phone will fit in most pockets by using the 7" Kindle as an extreme example. Thank you for bringing this back on topic.

Bigger screens don't necessarily mean a bigger phone it just means less bezel there is a lot of wasted space on the front of an iPhone personally I'd use the whole front and move the home button to the edge.

Also pretty confident if Apple want to keep current customers or tempt others away from Android the next iPhone absolutely has to have a larger screen next model.

Every naysayer said the exact thing before the iPhone 4S was unveiled, then proceeded to talk about how this was the end of Apple, and a zillion other silly things which never came true.

From what I've seen no one really likes the 4s at least amongst people I know a few have also switched to Android. I believe the 4s is widely recognised as disappointing and a stopgap at best.

Must be why no one is buying it, wait.

I actually don't know a single person who has bought one and yet I've seen people who were hyped by the thought of an iPhone 5 last year buy an Android phone because of the bigger brighter screen instead of a 4S.

I don't really go in for hype or propaganda I just base what I say on what I actually see happening and I'm convinced Apple need to address the screen issue next model.

I'm not saying the 4S is bad in many ways it's an improvement or will be if they fix the battery.

You're comparing Apple and Oranges-so to speak. in the early 2000's we didn't have 3G/4G speeds, mms, gps, twitter, FB all on our phones. We didn't NEED bigger screens for making phone calls or using the old school texting. we also didn't have the online gaming available.

My internet usage is maybe 50/50 between home and my phone. Screen size was one reason I've gravitated away from iPhones/Touches; With as much as I use my phone for internet, a bigger screen is better (especially as I get older and my eye sight isn't what it used to be). I think however there is a limit on how big is too big. My Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65" screen and that is about as big as I want on a phone-that said it may even be a bit too big for me, however it fits in my shirt pocket quite well, and I can still swype a text message with one hand but something like the Note coming out this year to AT&T, with its 5.5" screen is overkill.

It's all about choice however, and one reason Android has the majority of the market; there are different phones, screen sizes, and price ranges for everyone's taste and budget. It really wouldn't kill Apple to offer a 4" screen at this point. Problem is, they'll need a lot more than a bigger screen and ripping off Android's task bar to at least stay relevant. Beef up the RAM, allow for some customization, get a quad core processor in there. Of course they won't, then people won't have a reason to upgrade every year, but if they think they can simply rest on their name and offer minimal innovation (too busy suing everyone else for that), they'll be right where they were before JObs came back and bailed out their butt.

I love it. This thread has turned into pants porn!

I do my IOS gaming on an iPad. I seriously do not know how folks play games on phones. If you want a bigger screen go to a tablet. It is still pretty portable. A phone should be for communication first and the Internet only when a usable device is not available. A 3.5 inch screen should be fine for phone usage.

Surely that can't be a phone, can it? Small tablet? If it's a phone, it just needs side-talking.
