    Australia, mate!
Will this new software update cause us to lose all of our apps, thus, making us have to re-download all of our apps?

And if we do have to re-download our apps, would we lose all of our progress in games that are half completed?

I've spent so long in CJS that I would not want to have to restart the game without completing it!

Other updates never caused data loss, I would expect more of this same behavior with 3.0

All you have to do is make a backup before you update.

Weird thing though... 3.0 doesn't let apps install into the first page of the home screen, regardless of how much space you have. All your apps will be on page 2+

no, just backup your phone before you install the new software, and next time post in the correct forum.

Unless you fill up the eleven pages. Then it puts the last two downloads on the first page. I find it quite nice that 3.0 does this, very convenient.

    Whats the point in that?

If the apps where put on the first page, then it would just put the last downloads on the last page instead of putting them on the first page.
and is it only two? What if you do more then two? Is there anything else on the first page or is it Just the default apps? What if the first page is full?

    This is strange.

The home page saves it's slots. It doesn't matter if your first page is full or if it only has one app. The is so you can keep your first page nice and clean and use the Spotlight screen to search for apps.

The only time apps will install on the first page is if you have reached the maximum amount of pages (11) AND have filled the others (10) so that the only spaces available are on the 1st page.

Because 99% of the time I download apps, they do not stay on the first page. So it's now more convenient to not have to move every single app I download off the first page.

If the first page is full, then whoopty do? How does that affect anything? Once you fill 11 pages then your done.

PS: Sorry, I don't know much about technology.

Yeah I've had all the beta's and now the final "golden master" release or whatever. At this point though, it's probably worth it to wait a couple days and get the public release version.

Backing-up your iPhone happens in iTunes automatically when you sync. It creates the files and saves them for you. If you ever need to restore, iTunes will offer you the option to restore from your latest back-ups.

So let's say if I lose all of my apps, all I need to do is Sync it on my computer and all the apps would come back? And what about my game progresses, will they all be saved? Or would I lose all of the progress on my games?

When you plug in to your computer and sync you automatically do a Backup that saves everything on your device before it syncs/installs the new stuff. That saving includes Apps, Their locations, Save data, EVERYTHING.

No worries, as long as you let the backup finish everything is safe

I didn't even back mine up when I installed 3.0 gm and I lost absolutely nothing. All my game data remained.
