wow, you need to calm the f*** down, lol. I had that problem for the first 4 or so hours of the update being released. Then (after about the 15th attempt) it worked. If you want it today, you will just have to keep on trying and hope that there will be a little gap in the server activity. Otherwise, just wait until things have calmed down (yourself as well as the server, lol) and then it should update fine.
That I would understand, but it keeps telling me MY network connection timed out... implying there is something wrong with MY internet connection... when there clearly isn't. I hope this does rectify itself soon though, it really annoying!
It's seriously annoying. I already have 3.0 installed which seems to work fine, but the problems start as soon as I boot up iTunes. It won't even sync my phone, it just gets to the backing up iphone part and then doesn't progress... just stays there. I've tried again and its stuck on the same part (has been for about an hour and a half now). This 3.0 has caused more hassle then it's seemingly worth.
Yeah, I do. Just to be sure, I unistalled iTunes earlier, then re-downloaded it from Apple's site. Alas, the problem persists (this backing up thing has been going on for nearly two hours now ).
That really sucks. I have yet to even get it yet. I hope it doesn't cause me any further problems like you are having when I eventually DO get it.. I dont feel like putting up with more of apples sh!t today.
Yep this same thing happens on Christmas day when everyone gets something new on iTunes and want to try it out, it's always better on December 26 or in this case tomorrow.
What? All I'm trying to do here is sync my phone (given up on the app updates) and it's been backing up for like two hours (the bar at the top hasn't budged one bit). Other people downloading 3.0 shouldn't affect my iTunes syncing right? EDIT: After just over two hours of apparetnly 'backing up' my iPhone... 'iPhone could not back up as iPhone backup could not be saved to computer'... WHAT?! Hell with this, I'm going to bed.
Aww this is bullshit! I've been clicking the update button for an hour to 2 hours straight and all it gives me is that the network had timed out. What makes it worse is that there is 2 checkpoints for this. The first time it can time out is when I click the learn more button. The second time it is able to time out is after I click the buy button. When I finally got through and it started laying out the terms and services for me, I was so happy! At the end of it all, you know what it said? "****ing thank you for reading our terms and services, you may now try to download our update." WHAT?!??! I thought I was on the path to download the update!! ... and so I was promptly sent back to the first screen. ... I click update... than learn more... and the same ****ing network timed out error comes out. .... jesus christ, I don't even know if it is worth updating anymore.
i live in arizona and i downloaded at about 10am. and now my brother is trying to get it and it just says network timed out. so just wait a bit and try again.theres so many people trying to get it right now, and the other countries that dont get it till the 18th are gonna be able to download it soon, if they cant already. its worth updating, you just have to be patient
App store must be completely overwhelmed or something. Very slow in accessing pages and impossible to get any game updated. I think I'll come back in a week.
Strange. I can't find settings to change battery to percentage, and holding my home button doesn't forcequit any applications. Anyone else???
its not just holding the home button that force quits. you have to hold both home and the top button for something like 5 seconds and then release one of them and it should force quit.
I thought that's how you put it into DFU mode. I've always just held the home button down to forcequit.
i didnt think this deserved its own thread, so you guys know how you can restore your iphone from a previous backup. Does anyone know if we'll be able to restore a 3gs from a 3g backup so that we can keep all our settings and such?
I'm not entirely sure, but I think changing your battery to a percentage is only available on iPhone 3G S. As for force quitting, it seems to be working fine for me. On a side note, has anyone tried typing a message on here using their iPhone. When you get to the side of the screen, the screen does a nice scroll as opposed to stuttering to the right like it normally does (or at least on my iPhone anyway).
alternate download I have a gift for those of you having trouble with the download from itunes. in the first post on this link, there are alternate download locations for the official firmware release that are extremely faster than itunes. On the same first post right below the links, there are instructions on how to get itunes to ask you where the file is that you want to restore from (hold shift, click restore for pc) http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news/632111-3-0-here-iphone-ipod-touch-come-get.html you're welcome
