Hey, you have a point. So what do you suggest would be an efficient way to notify that you have taken a promo code? I agree that no one will read all the posts that say "oh, I took a promo code" so what can we do instead?

Thanks, and yes, there are no codes left I just went and checked all of them.

First of all, I think that this shotgun approach to seeding codes is a bad idea. My guess is that it rarely leads to anything good for the developer. If they’re pasting a bunch of codes on here, that means that they couldn’t give them away to the press or anyone of influence, and that they’re happy just giving them to random strangers. I doubt that many people will actually leave reviews or constructive feedback when they get codes like this.

I think a better approach is to personally deliver a code to somebody who promises to actually evaluate the app and give you feedback. The ideal solution would be if there was a network of vetted reviewers. Or at least a network of people who will actually use the app and share with you their opinion.

Barring this vetted network, somebody should create a blacklist for forum members who renege on their promise to actually review the app. That way, a developer could check against this list to see if their code will be wasted. Then, if they deliver a code and they never get the promised feedback or publicity, they can add this person’s name to the blacklist of people not to deal with.

But all of this is mostly a developer problem. The only thing useful that a person can do is to grab them and hopefully do the right thing. Regarding the “I grabbed this code” posts, I stand by the statement that they’re a waste of everybody’s time. The “all gone” posts, though, are worthwhile.

If you find a thread with codes, do a quick search for the word “gone”. If you can’t find it, start checking each of the codes for yourself. Who knows, you might get lucky. But my experience is that apps that are offered this way are rarely worth your time. You get what you pay for, and the good stuff is rarely free.
