I'll throw in my experience. I registered with Apple as a company, after submitting the forms I got a phone call about a week later asking me to verify the business. All I had to fax to them was my official "Assumed Business Name" document from the state of Oregon (which Oregon sent me as a PDF). A day after I had faxed that document in, I got an email with instructions on how to pay the $99 fee - after that, I think it was a few hours before I got the activation code. So, all told, registering as a company (with only the Assumed Business Name document) took a week. This was in early March '09.
Hey guys thought I'd update on where Im at: After enrolling as a company just over a month ago now, I got an email asking for my company documents about two weeks later with instructions to send to a +61 number which is Australia (made sense to me since I'm in New Zealand). Then another week and I got an email asking me to send the docs to a US number, which I did and now I'm waiting for a phone call from them after another week of waiting. So I'm not entirely confident in their process, I guess being an overseas company I get the short end of the stick!
I am from Denmark and the whole process also took a while for our company (about one month). However in order to get the testing started one of us registered as an individual as well - that process takes less than 24 hours. Of course not optimal to pay $100 extra, but for us it was worth it since we could start testing properly.
Well bite my tongue, I got an email today with a link to purchase my dev licence! Just one more "short" wait to go, yay
we got mail I applied as a company (vs individual or enterprise) because I want our apps to be under Cavalcade Games not my name. After 3 days (not counting the weekends) we got the email asking for some papers regarding business with multiple owners. - Articles of Partnership/Certificate of Partnership - Certificate of Incorporation issued by Securities and Exchange Commission The problem is my company is sole proprietorship. I emailed them back saying so. I hope this won't prolong things.
Registered my 2nd Company I mentioned that I had blogged all the steps of the enrollment process for my company. That one was my own LLC. When I registered my day-job company, it took 24 days, instead of 18. We just finished on Friday. It was interesting--they didn't make us send any documents at all. Perhaps if you are large and well established, they don't need as much information from you. Anyway, it seems it's still somewhere between 2 and 4 weeks...
Hope it turns around quickly. Are you in Auckland? Nice to know other kiwi developers exist. I've decided to register under my own name. Mainly because it'll take too long the other way, and I've almost finished my app. Anyways, cheers.
I have started to register our LLC 2 weeks ago - took a week for them to ask us to fax some paperwork which I did (Articles of Organization w/ secretary of state) - It's been a week and no news so far... EDIT: My status is: Contacting your legal representative. Conducting company identity verification So I guess we should expect a phone call very soon... Ben, thanks for blogging about your experience - very useful.
