Errors in the iPhone 4 advert: 1) all the people hold the phone with the 'death grip' 2) two people using sign language but only using one hand. How?! 3) using face time whilst in a hospital. Two errors here; a] no wi-fi in hospitals and b] all phones must be swithed off so as not to disrupt equipment! Sad, I know. But at least get the basics right...
1. The death grip doesn't effect everyone despite what Gizmodo would love you to believe. 2. One handed sign language. 3. Uhh, this is completely wrong. Most hospitals have WiFi and having your phone off is only important around sensitive equipment. The ad shows them using FaceTime in a recovery room not in the middle of a MRI machine. 4. Another thread on this, awesome.
Hodapp you know I never have issues with what you say but this is ridiculous, prove yours doesn't do the deathgrip please, I don't believe it. I have tested on at least 8 devices in person and talked to personal friends of mine (roughly 4) and they all do the same thing. 12 of them, and apple giving out free cases because only a few are defective. Unless your an alien illuminati lizard man an your skin is non-conducive then yours does it too. If it doesn't then please post a video using it for 1 min talking or speedtest and put your money where you mouth is. You and I both know it's not just gizmodo taking advantage of just "a couple" of defective units. The entire design is defective....
Around 5 in 1000 have the death grip problems. I guess you just pick the rotten ones. He's obviously not a mutant lizard. Like, they can't even type.
Ok sure thing, would you like to show me the source you found that? The only people not admitting that there IS a design flaw seems to be only the hardcore apple fanboys, and my guess is their too embarrassed to admit they spent $300 on a device that doesn't work properly without a case. Prove me wrong SOMEONE post a video holding their phone without a case and do a speedtest for one minute exactly...
The whole death grip thing isn't a stat that's spread out over all iPhone owners, it's a stat that applies to specific low-signal areas, which makes it more of a problem. Apple could end up releasing the iPhone in an area with outdated and crappy telecomunications services and it just wouldn't work at all.
Look I live in Orlando, we have 3G everywhere here and full bars at that, ask VeganTnT if you don't believe me, it's not due to any of that regardless of what Mr. Jobs would want you to believe, I personally have had 2 devices because my first one was giving sim card errors, but BOTH have the signal drop, and all the ones I have tested have been here in Orlando in great coverage as well.... Grant it with a case I actually get better service then my 3G but these people (Hodapp) that deny it and say theirs works perfectly, prove it, I've already offered to post my own video and I can get 3 phones in one video to show it happen on all 3. All I'm asking is one person who doesn't have the issue (Not possible, as it's a design flaw, and a major one at that) to prove it, and I'll shut up. In fact I've asked probably 10 times and still no one will do it, why do you think that is? I'll tell you why... BECAUSE WITHOUT A CASE THE PHONE IS BROKEN AND DEFECTIVE!!! (And before someone says I'm pissed off and going crazy ranting, I'm not mad I'm just in CAPS to try and prove my point) In all actuality like I said many times here before, I LOVE my iphone, BUT I'm also able to admit that without a case it's worthless as a phone...
Everyone who says they can't replicate the issue, saying it's only a small amount of phones actually affected (5 in 1000?! Oh please!) Even taking my phone to apple they won't replace it.... Why? The "Genius" says "That's an issue with all the iphones sir"... SO, if apple says it's everyone, how are there people that don't have that issue? That's what I'm getting at, if Hodapp's doesn't do it, all I'm asking is for him to prove it... Sorry to be a dick about it but if there are units that work perfectly then I want one. But I KNOW it's an issue with all of them, and until someone proves me otherwise I'll stand by that from here on out....
Not really, your saying it only applies to phones in lower coverage areas, and that's incorrect. You can be in PERFECT coverage and still will lose signal sometimes down to "No Service"...
It is a design flaw, but it even though the design has a minor flaw, the phone's reception is better than any other phone I've owned. And with the case, the problem doesn't exist any more. I hate the way the media and news companies have made it look like the phone is broken. Normal people who don't know much about technology just hear all the shit that the big news corporations put out and they get the wrong idea. When my relatives heard that I bought an iPhone 4, they were like "you just bought a broken phone, I heard about it in the news", but no, the phone isn't broken. It's fine. Everytime I've been involved in the news (or had some inside info), I've always spotted some BS stains in the article. I can't trust news I hear, much of the time its largely exaggerated or plain BS. That's never happened to me. I've lost 2 bars at most, and even then the signal is just as good, if not better than my old phone.
