Now that the iPhone 4 Case program has been going for a while, I'd like to know what case iPhone 4 owners chose. Theres a good amount of choices and I don't want to get the wrong one. I know I don't want the silicone ones because they attract lots of dirt and hairs and stuff. and i know some people with the bumper. their iPhones have gotten pretty scratched up because of the official bumper from apple. thanks for the help!
I picked the Griffin Reveal Etch. And I highly recommend it. It fits very nicely, it feels like it's actually part of the phone (at first my friend didn't realise that my iPhone 4 was in a case). It doesn't add much bulk, yet it provides good protection on the sides and the back. The back is made of hard plastic and has a carbon fibre look to it. The rubber around the side of the phone also gives a bit more grip and feels more comfortable. There is no flash problem - the camera takes photos fine with or without the flash. The lock and volume buttons are covered over with the rubber, but it's just as easy to press them. Some people might not like the fact that they are covered, but I don't mind it at all. So, yeah. It's a great case. Thank you, Apple.
the inner sides of the Apple Bumper has plastic, which is what causes the scratches. is that how this one is?
I have the bumper and I've taken it on and off over a period of 2 weeks and not 1 scratch. Stop putting rocks in your pockets!
Awesome, i think my last question is this (although it may sound stupid): i can't tell, are the side and the back panel attached?
For my wife and my phone we picked the Incase Snap Case (clear) and Belkin Shield Micra, both specifically for their low form factors and simple, clear designs that don't hide the beauty of the iPhone within.
i was scared of these ones, as they are complete plastic. any scratches, especially on the silver frame?
Got my white bumper from apple, I LOVE IT! I'm receiving my otterbox defender on Tues, which I'll use as my main case, but I'm sure I'll still slap on the bumper from time to time...
nah, it adds too much bulk. it looks thin but its not. i'm using a tpu blue bumper from ebay! honestly i thought it would be a piece of junk for $0.99 and free shipping but it's super thing but adds protection, and it looks great! it's kind of a milky color so you can still see the iphone and how beautiful it is. fits perfect with the power support front and back. so many compliments on it! I have the Speck PixelSkin HD, Incipio NGP, and Black bumper and this eBay skin cover is my absolute favorite. I'll post pics in a while.
Don't know, they haven't arrived yet. I'm not too worried about scratches on them though -- actually, that's why I'm getting them. I'm using a skin on mine right now to keep scratches away from the phone itself, but ultimately it is the case I will be using to take the scuffing. I don't much care if it gets scuffed up with use, that's its job, and I can always get a new one if it gets bad enough. The phone, not so much. Plus, both cases will be replaced with the Exogear Exolife battery case soon enough anyway. I have them on backorder, supposedly shipping on the 23rd, so it's possible they'll arrive before my Case Program cases do. I don't expect they scratch the phone though. I spent a year using a JuicePack Air (all plastic inside and out) on the iPhone 3GS, and took it out numerous times for cleaning and never saw a scratch on the phone -- and the 3GS is all plastic. I'd expect steel and glass to be much more resistant to casual contact with plastic components.
Lucky! A white bumper would be awesome Do you have a link to eBay for the .99 cent tpu blue bumper? I can't seem to find it. And are they more rubber-y or plastic-y. I'm hoping plastic.
I meant the silver frame of the phone itself, not the case. haha I do understand that the purpose of the case is to take the scuffs
It's plastic, easy to get in and out of your pocket. Here's the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270613618219&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2477wt_1139 he has more cases for sale. check other items.
I got the bumper case, and although it fits nicely and does it's job well, there are 2 big issues for me: - look/feel: the phone feels weird with the bigger border, and you lose the distinctive flat and silver edged look. - the port holes are cut so tight alot of headphone jacks and dock accessories won't fit. In summary I'm using the phone naked (I kept the plastic protector on the back). If you really want a great case all around I think you have to look elsewhere.
