Engadget, Gizmodo, Kotaku, Joystiq, The Washington Post, PC Mag, and Newsweek all had overwhelmingly negative things to say about it, hell even Mac Life did, and they're a dedicated Apple website. I don't know where you got this idea from.

Exactly, I guess I just expected so much more than an iPhone on steroids.

    Who cares?

Well, yes. In fact, I thought it was pretty funny. Mostly because you deserved it.

But you are correct. This particular thread is about the iPad, who cares about grammar? Right? Certainly not you, as you have so effortlessly demonstrated with your obvious grasp of the english language. Impressive.

Do you not care what people think about you when they try and read your particular brand of writing? Any self-respecting individual would be embarrassed to write something so riddled with blatant grammar, punctuation, AND spelling errors. What's worse, is you try and defend this type of garbage? Do you have any idea how un-intelligent this makes you look? But it's cool. You don't care about that. Shame? What's that?

So whatever. I'm not telling you to change, or try harder. And I'm not expecting it either. Ultimately, it IS your right to produce writing worse than someone in grade three. Just don't be surprised and/or upset when others (who do care) get in your face about it. And don't expect people to take you, or your opinion, seriously when that is how you talk to them.

...and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how to make a good first impression on a forum.

What I particularly appreciated was that it was possible to understand exactly what he was saying, right off the bat. It's amazing what even a tiny bit of education can do, isn't it?

I just wanna say to all you haters out there that this device is perfect. You may not realize it, but it does all the major things that an in between device should do. Lets see, what do I do on my computer?

    -Browse the web
    -Skype
    -Browse the web
    -Use Adobe/Microsoft software
    -Browse the web
    -Listen to music
    -Browse the web

I like to browse the web on my computer instead of my iPhone because I like to see the screen, and I like a page to load within 30 seconds. Now what do I do on my iPhone.

    -Play games
    -Call People
    -Listen to music

This device will have all those major features. It will be able to surf the web at a fast pace, play games on a big screen, listen to music, look at photos, and show movies. If you're one of those people that constantly has to have Photoshop on in the background then this isn't for you, but most of the time, even if I do have Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop on, I'm not using them so much as I'm using the internet. And if you really do want it to be more like a computer, then you also have to realize that people will be able to make iPad specific apps. The iPad will most likely have the ability to save documents, this means that apps can be more productive like iWork, and the bigger screen gives much more options. Some of iPad's applications may actually come close to ones found on your computer. Please respond to this post saying what more you want from the iPad, or what your "ideal" device is, which will supposedly be out in one or two years.

How about one usb port so I can use an external hardrive or view the files on a friend's USB flash drive? How about being able to control were my files go and organize them as I please? How about having a system which automatically backs up my important files to a server on the internet without me even having to think about it? How about being able to download applications that alter the UI of my computer to make it more efficient and appealing to me? How about being able to download a internet browser that meets my needs, including playing flash videos (I know, I am beating a dead horse by now), and how about being able to view any type of file I like or need to view?

I could think of some others. Like I said, computers do a LOT of stuff we take for granted. Considering that this is Apples answer to the netbook, there is a lot of functionality it is missing*.

*yes I know it isn't supposed to be a netbook, but it is supposed to be the better execution of the idea behind a netbook

Again with the bullshit!! Put it this way my friend. If I wanted to speak/type correctly I would have chosen to type on my laptop but because I typed it out on my iphone I didn't really give a shit how I wrote it. I simply wanted to share my point of view on this shit forum that I see u and ur boyfriend seem to be senior members of. So to cut things short u still didn't respond in any way to my opinion on the iPad u just had to feel like a BIG MAN and talk shit.

Real political! U and ur boyfriend should run for president. I mean one little post can do this. Then why would I want to be part of this shit forum.

Deathsting, I have to say I am sorry that all of these people were bashing you, but they have a valid point. It is unpleasant to read something written in poor english and it makes what one is reading seem like an uneducated opinion. I realize that you were just trying to quickly post your thoughts, but realize our only way to understand your thoughts is by reading what you post. You can't expect us to read a rushed, poorly written opinion and treat it with the same respect as a well thought out, easy to read post. The fact that you insisted that your grammer and spelling and overall lack of effective communication were unimportant only made you seem less educated. I am not trying to call you stupid, far from it. I am simply saying that if you want to be taken seriously, post seriously.

    Relax

First off, I'm impressed that after that verbal lashing you would still consider me a 'friend'. That's good, because I'm not actually trying to pick a fight with you.

If it makes you feel any better, I will apologize for not staying on topic and responding directly to your comments on the iPad. (I wasn't trying to hijack the thread)

What I was doing, was responding to how you reacted to the first comment about your writing. More precisely, I was trying to get my point across of how people can sometimes become frustrated trying to read poorly written messages, and how people would think negatively of that.

And I will agree with you that writing messages on the iPhone/iPod is not as efficient as a laptop (which in itself can be highly frustrating). But if you have the ability to write proper messages when using a full sized keyboard, why not just wait until you have one in front of you to do your writing? That would ensure that nobody has the right to make negative comments. It's not really going to make any difference when or where you actually make your posts, as long as you get to say (clearly) what you want to say.

But then you resort to petty insults and imply that I'm gay (by assuming I have a boyfriend), and start calling the forum 'shit'. Come on. Was that really necessary? (And you thought I was being rude?) For someone who claims that they don't care, you seem to be very agitated. Seems to me that you do care. At least enough to get angry about it.

Just know that my goal is not to discourage you from posting messages on the forum. I don't want that. Everyones opinion is valuable. Yours included.

By the way, I'm not a senior member of this forum. This is only my second post. However, I think I can safely assume that anyone who reads my post will agree that I was not talking any 'shit'. What I wrote was truth. And sometimes the truth can be perceived as rude. But like it or not, that IS how people will view messages like that. And neither you or I can control how people will react to things we post in forums. All we can do is accept it, and move on.

Ok 1 question. If you buy an iPad and then the dev releases a special iPad optimized version of an app you already own. Do you have to buy the iPad version again. Or will iPad optimized versions be included in free updates of the original app.

Example. If I want that version of smiles and I already own smiles for iPhone. Do I have to buy it again?

we will for example add a special iPad profile to our game: Pirate's Gold
(http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=38390) - so you buy one and it will work on every device :)
The iPad is a much more powerfull than the iPod/iPhone so we can add to the iPad version much more eye candy.
But to be honest - I thing that developers will build a seperate "iPhone" and "iPad" versions (so you must buy two of them) - hope not much publisher will do that...
