i think its a really stupid idea lol. its a huge non portable ipod touch. the only thing it would be nice on is the iphone gaming, but you would have to be a huge waterhead to pay 500 to get a wanna be gaming platform. it has no flash, no usb, same os as idevices. its serious fail idea....
Just want to say that I created a poll to get the TA community's general opinion on the iPad. Also, did anyone see the college humor video making fun of it?
lol @ poll results, majority thinks its awesome and will buy... iPad: OS: Iphone 3.2 Processor: 1 GHz Apple A4 Memory: (data unreleased, but probably 256mb-512mb) video: (data unreleased, probably not a big leap from ipod) Storage: 16gb($499)/32gb($599)/64gb($699) battery: Built-in lithium-polymer 25 W·h (estimated: 140hrs of music, 10hrs gaming ect) dimensions: 9.56in x 7.47in x 0.5in Ipod touch 3g: OS: Iphone 3.1.2/3.1.3 Processor: ARM Cortex-A8 833 MHz (underclocked to 600 MHz) Memory: 256 MB DRAM video: PowerVR SGX Storage: 8gb($199)/32gb($299)/64gb($399) battery: Lithium-ion battery (estimated: 30hrs of music, 6hrs gaming ect) dimensions: 4.3in x 2.4in x 0.33in Ok so, the ipad is NOT a computer/laptop/netbook in any way shape or form.... not even close Its just a huge ipod touch(with a ipod+$300 price tag on it). a non portable ipod. It went from being able to put in your pocket, to you need a carrying case just to bring along your ipod.... All you can do is the exact same things an ipod does(not 1 thing more) but with a screen that's bigger, and is a little bit faster and better battery life.(Since its different firmwire and probably a completely new boot-rom, say good bye jailbreaking). Still NO flash support(no online videos except the watered down youtube.) I think it would be a MUCH better investment to spend $500+ on a laptop. It would be faster, more efficient, and no limitations on it like the ipad. I think the only people who are buying this are ones who want the "next new thing" or are just really big waterheads... I do hope Apple decides to let Flash onto the iPad. I'd have to assume that if it can work on Android it can work on the iPad OS. I just want the option of using it. If it turns out to be a resource issue I'll turn it off and on as needed. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'd hate to have to buy competitor's products just to make this point. There seems to be a good deal of chatter out there about the lack of Flash support on the iPad, so hopefully that compels someone at Apple to reconsider. I feel like Apple has a tendency to lean towards having very closed platforms. I would really like to be able to install Firefox on an iPad and things like that. I think that would make it much more appealing. But, alas, I realize Apple like to keep control, so all I can do is hope.
Ofcourse Flash CAN work, Apple don't WANT it to work. If they put it on, devs may stop porting their Flash games across meaning they don't get their 30% cut!
yeah adult swim would be fun.. heh. but yeah apple aint ever gonna let flash on. unless its some crippled crap. why even bother then. everyone says its cause of movies.. but its cause of teh flash games, apps. and yeah i could see my self using a ipad around the house.. and may get one. chris.
Did anyone read this awesome article by Blake? Cool behind the scenes look... http://www.bytecellar.com/archives/000177.php
ooo but with apple pimping the ipad as the ultimate web browser.. then today i find this.. http://www.gizmag.com/apple-patent-advert/13418/ if thats what jobs sees for the future of the ipad.. it will fail.. apples shares will fall. laughs.. also kind of funny i read a article just last week with apple sending out a notice to developers not to put adds into there software.. and apple purchased addz company last summer for several millions. time will tell how this unfolds.. chris.
I can't honestly see Steve Jobs implementing that into the iPad, we all know how obsessive he is with keeping things clean and smart. He's against having application icons on desktops so what are the chances he'll stick advertisements there?
yeah, im not sure what to think but you make some valid points. maybe its to protect the net.. but come on jobs is not known as a nice guy when it comes to business. heh. just cant see him doing something with out profit in mind. but its also true company's apply for patents all the time.. and they never turn into anything. i just found it interesting.. reading what i did last week about adds into software, and apple buying a adds company.. and then i read that. chris.
I swear to god, if that happened, I'd buy ipads just to make videos of me smashing them into tiny pieces. That's the most horrible idea I have ever heard in my entire life.
ooo what part did you not like.. the forced ads, or the test on the adds you are forced to look at.. and you do not get your operation system back till you take the test. LOL makes you wonder who thought of that idea.. chris.
Lol every part of it! It sounds like brain washing to me, I'd have nothing to do with it period. Except for it's downfall.
