will they continue to call it the ipad.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100129/tc_afp/usitcompanycomputermediainternetapplefujitsu i can see the photoshops now. laughs. chris.
yeah for some reason i see apple wining.. regardless.. they just have so much money.. everything is for sale.. minus my fake knee. well if the $$$ is right and they throw in a free ipad.... maybe. laughs. i still found it interesting when i found this article dis morning by accident. chris.
I completely agree with you. This seems like a great device and if you think about it, even if it is just a big iPod Touch (which it's not.. it'll have video chatting, SMS, file downloading from the web, and more un-leaked features) it's incredible. Just think about flicking your finger to scroll pages on the internet. It really is great. And think about watching movies on that huge screen. The iPad is definitely excellent. I'm so excited for this.
This does seem like it *might* be very fun for some apps like board games, puzzle games, racing games etc....It seems like many apps might be much better with the larger screen. We will see............
Anyone ever think that the ipad was known before it was announced.. like a few years ago? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2TBmZGW3GE&feature=related Watch at 0:36 seconds.
That a Mac monitor, a Mac-mini drive, and the side of a MacBook. The only thing close to the actual iPad is the name. And even that just demonstrates Apple branding themselves into a corner.
Sorry if this has already been posted but one thing that concerns me is if there will be any way to sync up games saves between an iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad. I intend to get one for my birthday, but wonder if there is a way to for this to work. I own an iPod Touch and will still play it while I'm out, but would love to be able to come home and pick up from where I was on the iPad. Any thoughts?
Such a function never existed before so I doubt it will be in the iPad, not that it is impossible to do, I just don't think Apple will provide for it off the bat.
From what I know of the situation, Plus+ games can do that, save and close a game on one device and open, sign into Plus+ on another device and resume your game there. This is possible because the Plus+ system provides a small online save space for each user of the game. This idea will of course work for quitting out on your iPhone and resuming on an iPad once they are released
Whoa! That is a pretty cool Plus+ feature! Definitely moves that service up a few notches in my book.
Yeah, it's neat stuff! Of course the Plus+ game has to be programmed to save the game to that network storage space on the Plus+ server for it to work. So that means you'd need internet access to save and resume your game (whether on the same device or a different one). I'm not sure what specific games support this feature today, but I suspect quite a few will do so in the coming months

Every piece of technology or product, it has pros and cons. Well, even the iPad it self has some and I would like to point six of them in this article. Now, the iPad is amazing and really cool, but it has it downsides. Know some of these things missing might just be plain opinion, while some are facts. * A front Camera Seen has how the iPad has such a big screen, a fast processor, and a IPS display technology, it would only make sense for a front-facing video camera for video chat or video conferencing. It would only make sense because if it did, managers for companies would use for video conferences and other various things. * Multitasking Now, for the thing that makes me most mad is that the iPad has no multitasking capability. The iPad has a 1GHz processor in it, which is easily enough for multitasking. Now, the multitasking couldn't be 5+ apps running all at the same time. There would only be enough for about 3-4 apps running at the same time. * No Flash Support Now, Flash is a some what heavy application to run, but with the iPad's 1GHz processor, it should be able to handle Flash. Flash would be very helpful, especially if you browse the web a lot. Many sites on the web use Flash, which like I said earlier, if you browse a lot visit many sites that use Flash, this would come in handy. * OLED Screen Apple claimed that the iPad had a 10 hours battery life, and a 1 month stand-by battery life. Well, OLED screens need less power then a LCD screen, thus improving the battery life or making the battery last longer. * 16:9 aspect ratio The iPad has 4:3 aspect ratio, which is really bad for viewing widescreen movies. If the iPad had a 16:9 aspect ratio, that would be much better for viewing movies. The 16:9 aspect ratio would go along very well with the IPS technology that the iPad has. The IPS technology improves viewing the screen from angles, for example: If you and your friend were watching a movie, your friend was holding the iPad , you were sitting next to your friend and watching from an angle. * Verizon 3G Network AT&T has the fastest 3G network, however, Verizon has the biggest 3G network in America. The iPad will be shipped all over America, but for some people that order the Wi-Fi + 3G version might now have AT&T 3G in their area. Which, they spent extra money for the Wi-Fi + 3G version, but end up not being able to use the 3G coverage.
* A front Camera Will be redundant for most people, doesn't suit a portable device like this and adds to price. Video conferencing is microscopically niche in the scheme of things. Probably available in the future as an add-on * Multitasking Apps generally shut down instantly and start up again as fast. I suspect some, rigorously tested by Apple, apps will be allowed to multitask in the future. But yep, I can see this a genuine negative, but possibly not quite as big for many of the target audience who simply browse the web and use e-mail. * No Flash Support Famed Apple vs Adobe situation. Tricky one, I rarely miss flash for my needs, but my needs may not be the same as most. If ipad takes off, then it will be irrelevant as sites will adapt for the market and see off flash for good. Can it take off without flash? Possibly, depends upon devs making the device irresistable and also Apple marketing and getting the U.I. pleasures across to joe public. * OLED Screen Never likely at a sensible price point. * 16:9 aspect ratio Video is just one part of the item, not much good for books and reading in general. 4:3 not the worst choice if you look at the market and aims of the device. * Verizon 3G Network U.S. only issue, can't comment. Basically, look at the bigger picture... fair enough to say what effects you and a certain group, but try to think of the mass market as well.
Let's see if you make the same opinionated mistakes others are making... How many people do you see doing video-conferencing on a handheld? I lived in Frankfurt, Germany for more than a decade and I never saw it happening even though there were commercials about it on German TV! Exactly. Obviously while there may be a WANT, there isn't a NEED. Eventually, Apple will do it anyway and nail it. Obviously while there may be a WANT, there isn't a NEED. I can do tons on my iPhone 3GS without the need for multitasking. If a lot of the sites you're visiting use flash exclusively then one of two things is happening: 1) You don't visit very many "good" websites. 2) The websites you're visiting employ lazy programmers. Pick one. If Flash is supposed to the end-all of web programming, then why aren't these forums programmed in flash? Face it, Flash is good for one thing and one thing only: video. And with HTML5 growth increasing, there's no longer a real need to pay the Adobe tax. The rest of the uses for Flash are either gimmicky or advertising, neither of which I want on my iPhone or a future iPad. OK, I'll give you this one. But I think Apple really wanted to nail that $500 entry price-point to get people addicted to the crack that is the future iPad. Going OLED wouldn't allow that and splitting up their SKUs even more than the 6 they have now to allow for OLED in a higher-cost version would puch it over the $1000 mark at launch for the 64GB w/3G iPad. Also, I don't think they could lay their hands on that many OLED screens in time to meet their planned launch timetable. This is a trade-off between portability size and a feature. And has anyone really played a 16:9-formatted film on it yet and taken a snap of it? So far all I've seen are estimates, no real screenshot of playing a 16:9 film. Meh, the jury is still out for me on this one. OK, any fracked-up moron who buys the 3G-enabled one in a non-3G area deserves to be slapped in the face as hard as possible for not doing a modicum of research beforehand. Second to take into account is Apple's return policy which will allow them to return it for a wi-fi-only model if they so choose. And don't believe the thing about "Store credit only" on returns, they'll get their money back. Second thing on this EVERYONE seems to either conveniently "forget" or they're just plain ignorant: the QUALCOMM CDMA tax. See, QUALCOMM holds the patents on the 3G CDMA chips that EVERY Verizon and Sprint 3G-enabled phone uses. And cell phone manufacturers that use their tech in their phones have to pay QUALCOMM to use them. This adds to the cost of each CDMA phone. Apple - like the rest of the planet - has chosen not to pay this tax and gone with the cheaper, more open GSM standard that - again - the rest of the planet uses. And as far as the T-Mobile 3G network goes, there's a company out there that also holds the patents on a "multi-net-chip" that - yes - can do 3G on both T-Mobile and AT&T networks. But then there's that whole "cell phone chip tax" thing again, which drives up the cost of every device. And let me guess, none of you remember the shady deals QUALCOMM was trying to push through Congress to get them to push for CDMA-only phone networks in Iraq immediately following the invasion? Yeah, I guess most of you were a little too young to remember that. As much as I can help it, QUALCOMM will get very little of my money.
