So my first iPad app is about to hit the App Store and at the exact same time the hard-drive on my Windows 7 PC, I get a Windows 8 developer DVD in the mail, and Apple introduces the most amazing iMac ever. Is this a sign? Is it time to choose to go all in on Apple or should I just save up for a SSD?
iPad Updates Decided to work on update to my iPad App (Brigands and Barbarians HD) before working on any other apps
Win 8 Windows 8 seems to constantly be forcing you out of desktop mode, also managing application in Metro mode is a bit hard to get used to as well. Still going to give making apps for it a go. Meanwhile my iPad App is done, Brigands and Barbarians HD and I have done a number of updates, check the forums here for promo codes. Now do I make a new iPad app or Win 8???
I'm not very impressed with windows 8 either to be honest I just don't like the tiles but I'm happy to keep with Win 7. It's a shame they did that as the surface pro looked really promising but I couldn't live with that GUI.
I don't like Windows 8 either. Microsoft is trying to make it too much like a smartphones layout and its confusing. I'll be staying with Windows 7 for a while.
Wide Screen It is even stranger when you use a wide screen monitor. Under the hood a lot has been improved, it boots very fast and has good driver support, but it needs a desktop mode that has has a start menu and has their start screen as a shortcut not a starting point. There are some things which can make it better: You can set an action to run explorer on login that will bring you to the desktop first. Also install iTunes or Winamp and Adobe Reader to avoid being dragged back to the start screen by the apps there. Oddly enough I think OS X is closer to XP than Windows 8 is
