I decided to make the decision to wait for the second gen iPad to see if it would have more of the features I would need for a product of that type. I would need a bigger memory first and foremost as I take full size photos and just transferring one or two cards onto it when I travel would fill it up. But anyway, that really isn't my point.

Take a look at the commercials Apple made for its devices and what they focus on - iPod Touch for gaming; iPhone 4 for productivity in all areas including games; iPad for productivity first and foremost and I can't even remember a game on it - if it is then it was so fast I forgot. So it appears that Apple released the iPad AS a tablet for productivity and the gaming was just an added bonus. The fact that so many people are using it for gaming was probably something they didn't anticipate so of course it is not going to perform up to GAMERS expectations. The iPad is getting raving reviews for all other aspects that it CAN do so I am sure once everyone realizes how much gaming can be done on the iPad it will catch up. Let the demand drive the supply. Until developers knew that gaming on the iPad was going to be a big success, making exclusives for it was a risk.

Same thing happened for iPhones and iPod Touches - does anyone remember life BEFORE the app store? You had to play games on the iPod Touch when it first came out via links online! So gaming has come a long way for all devices, it will just take a bit of time for any of the new devices to catch up to the old ones in areas where they were not emphasized for that purpose.

Whats great about the ipad is the productivity it offers. For instanceusing the mini photoshop app is a blast. Being able to turn and edit images by dragging them or flipping them with your finger rather than using automatic actions or scris with a pc program is a blast. Its like ur part of the picture or image youre working on.

Its also great being able to watch abc with the abc app and all the shows it offers as well as porn without having to worry about getting a virus while you do it ala on a laptop.

No, I'd be saving for the iMac pro myself.

But I'll mention this to you (if it makes any sense to you) about Apple. They
decided not to support the "Flash" technology in their "iDevices" and go with HTML5 instead. The time honored mark up language is clean and simple code wise which will help the small iDevices run faster. Auto-Code generating ap's spew hoards of code when used to produce web content and on devices with simpler slower processes the straight to the point code loads so much quicker and requires less bandwidth.

This is why CSS and HTML4 have been so popular for coding sites in more recent times with all the web phones and mobile devices etc. The smaller less powerful chipsets in these can handle these CSS HTML4 coded sites so much more easily.

New ap's are coming now like Feather (a scaled down version of Phoenix) an image editor coded in HTML5 and more will be on the way soon. So the future looks bright for the iDevices from Apple. In the past many ap's were coded in C++, Java, and other programming languages and it was only when the newer generation Pentium4 computers running OS like XP were available could get the faster page loads of pages built with Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, or GoLive etc.

This is somewhat the back end explanation of what you are seeing on your iDevice, but it's what makes it perform to your satisfaction with the technology it's built with.

The Appstore is full of simple fun games. That's what this platform is all about and that's fine. But some of you seem to be ashamed of that and compare it to console, pc, or ds games. You love the platform, but you can't admit you love casual and simple games, so you go on trying to make up stuff about how hardcore it can be, that it has PC-styled hardcore games etc. In reality it can't and it doesn't. Just learn to accept that you like simple games, theres' nothing wrong about that.

They all have the same OS and the iPad already has the newer A4 chip that is also on the iPhone 4. You can wait for the iPad 2 but it probably won't be much different than the current iPad except for a smaller screen? maybe some cameras added? personally I'm gonna buy myself an iPad this Christmas and enjoy it. there's already some good games for it, and a lot of games are already on the way. we're already starting to see a lot more Universal apps too.

The big thing is the user base. The ipad has sold about 1 mil per month, so that's 8 million sold. The total number of iPhones and ipod Ts sold is like 100 million. Charging 2 or 3 times more per app isn't going to cut it.

Also, like NEG said, the iPad isn't a gaming device, so developers don't instinctively support it.

finally, apps cost more to develop for the iPad, as all artwork has to upscaled. Even if the app is built with iPad support from the beginning, the artwork costs more to produce in the first place.

And what are you ranting about how we are ashamed of liking simple games? Were not, and we actually like better games.

Oh, and buying a $500 device for testing purposes is a big hit. Most devs can't afford that.

Also, EA doesn't give you a copy of medal of honor for the PC and and Xbox when you buy it on the PS3. You should be lucky iPhone apps work at all.

And universal apps are screwed on the charts, too.

The wish list that I would have for an iPad is simple - either a larger memory or a usb port so that I can attach an external hard drive to it. I see it as a perfect device for travel instead of a laptop but I really really need a place to transfer photos and as I said the internal memory right now is just too small for my needs. I have 8GB cards that I fill in a day.

Other people want so much fancier stuff and I don't care about the bells and whistles but I do care about the essentials to me - memory or a way to increase it.
