I know..a little off topic, but not really? I am looking to get a new Ipad..I am really getting into the games. Is there much difference between the Ipad or Ipad2 when primarily considering Gaming graphics, performance, and usability? Any thoughts much appreciated! Thanks!
apple's statement that the ipad 2's graphical power being 9x that of the ipad 1's has some merit. in reality, it's more like 4-5x, but the pixel fill rate really is 9x that of the ipad 1. also, the ipad 2's cortex a9 processor is linearly scalable dual core AND a new architecture, so in that respect, it should be more than twice as fast.
The iPad 2 is the most powerful tablet available. The dual core processor in the iPad 2 allows for steady framerates in games, as well as significantly better effects. The original iPad chugs along, while the iPad 2 holds steady. I was a day one owner of the original and upgraded in March to the iPad 2. The iPad 2 is thinner and lighter, making for an easier experience in gaming. If you want the best iOS gaming experience, iPad 2 is where it's at. The iPhone 4 chugs now, on some of the best games where as iPad 2 handles without a hitch. It's a dual core variant of the same quad core sgx chip Sony is using in the PS Vita. The iPad 3 may be quad core, however, that's over 7 months away.
+1 for the iPad 2. I used to get frustrated with poor frame rates on the original iPad, but with the iPad 2 , no such problems
My iPad 1 is good enough for now. Why waste money on an ipad 2 when an iPad 3 is less than a year away?
Yeah, I look at these things as disposable - replace every 1 - 2 years. They make great gifts for my kids, or less fortunate.
I don't get why people are so down on the first gen iPad. Granted the iPad 2 is a much better product all around but the first iPad still outperforms every other iOS device currently on the market. I've never once had an experience with it where I felt a game was hindered in any way due to a bad framerate or other problems. I certainly wouldn't recommend it over the 2 but at the same time I can't see any reason why I'd upgrade until at least the iPad 4.
