Neither was the iPad 2 in fairness.

Personally I'm buying a Nexus 7 32gb still but between the touch and the mini the differences are

Touch has no light sensor or LTE
Mini has a screen worse than most new cell phones

Both are using pretty much the same hardware roughly on a par with the 4s.

I think even with iPad 2 specs, if the clock speed is at 1000mhz, that would make it faster than the iPod Touch 5g.

    Look out your window.
Thing is I already have an iPod touch 4g, so I have a pocketable device for music and a few games/apps.

I want an iPad 3 but I can't afford it.

iPad 2 seems pointless. Mini does too, then, but I do like the idea of a smaller iPad.

    Tough choice.

Bear in mind the a6x is quad core graphics as well, which is a bump on the iPhone 5 a6's triple core.
I think the performance jump will be quite big.

Heres a page with all the specs of the mini listed neatly

    iPad Mini

I'm sure comparisons to the touch will show up within a day or so on tech sites I think their pretty much equal though but I do expect the Touch will have a longer shelf life.

I think I'm still going with a Touch. Less expensive and more portable...

3rd generation iPads have been discontinued and refurbished models are available. The prices are tempting.. but I may end up just getting a Transformer Prime.

I'm not sure if it's the same in the US, but in Canada, they are starting at $379 (for 16gb Wifi).

  15. So to summarize the press conference...

    - The iPad 4 is coming and is the second full-size iPad revision we've had in a year.
    - The iPad Mini uses an outdated A5 chip.
    - The 13" MacBook Retina only has Intel HD 4000 and lacks the NVIDIA graphics card that the 15" does.

    Yeah, I can't say I'm too impressed. :/

It was obvious that the ipad3 was a really flawed product and i wrote that from the moment it was announced but i stopped bringing up this point due to my respect to the people that actually bought it in this forum .
The ipad4 is what the ipad3 should have been and apple really screwed its consumers . I will keep my ipad2 and won't consider another ipad for at least until ipad5 since i am sure that every game will run just fine on it, just on lower resolution , for a long time .
At least the ipad4 will be able to run games like NOVA3 on its native resolution and with all the effects on , i guess .

Wow. So Apple reveals the iPad mini, which is way over priced for what it is, and not as good as an iPod touch 5, and tablets like the Nexus 7, but more expensive- are they serious?

Then, they reveal an iPad 4, basically screwing over everyone that bought an iPad 3 in the past few months. What happened to best iPad yet? Wouldn't have been updated so quickly if it didn't have some of the issues it did.

Also, quit making your stuff so freaking thin! Being thin is okay to a certain point, but being so thin that a person could easily snap it in half or punch a hole through it? WTF Apple. I can see them slowly becoming irrelevant TBH- I see fewer people with iPhones than I used to. I actually see a crapton of people toting Samsung phones now.

Refurb iPad 3 prices sure are tempting. Alas, no money for such things, so I stick with my trusty iPad 2. :)

Tygamr - is there a problem with iPads and iPhone 5's snapping in half that I'm unaware of?

Yeah i kept my ipad 2 as well. Still such a great device.... The ipad 4 is a surprise to me, and like others have said, seems a bit screwy for those that bought the 3. Have to wonder if next april will bring an ipad 5.... Is the A6x still dualcore+quad gpu?

I was being a little sarcastic, but just a little.

The iPhone is fine. I'm thinking of things like the new iPod touches. I've seen fourth gens bent in half (a few iPads too actually). It isn't super easy to do on accident, but still, not hard to do (unless you're a total twig). Apple keeps making them thinner and thinner when they are able. How thin is too thin? Also, really thin devices have a tendency to cramp hands, so that's another issue.
