Just saw the press invite. I will be buying the 32 GB model. I am dearly hoping for a6 (I don't actually believe it) but the should at least put some more ram into it (maybe like 600mb?) I am 100% sure it is coming. Fingers crossed for a mc4 ipad mini same time launch.
i reckon there is an iPad mini coming but I doubt they will have it much more powerful than the current Touch at best maybe the iPad 2 kind of spec. Then again the Nexus 7 is a quad core beast so if apple really wan't to compete they might do the exact opposite and give it iPhone 5 specs but I don't see how they could price it reasonably then. Personally I thought I'd never buy a tablet but I'm waiting for a larger version of the 7 if they put it up to 32gb it would be just enough to make me grab one.
Right you are about the mini's announcement! Only found out about the news last night after having posted previously. Duh.... OK? Other than that, I stick by the rest of the post, which is my opinion. Take it easy, dude, don't get all bent outta shape!
The nexus 7 is equipped with a tegra 3. We all know how underpowered (in the GPU department) that is compared with the apple a6 and a5x, even the a5. So I don't see the mini being equipped with an a5 underpowered compared to the nexus 7 at all.
For the price the Nexus 7 is pretty killer and from what I can see it's easily more powerful than any of the iPads CPU wise and cheaper to boot. It comes very close graphicly as well with the GPU. The 32gb I've been waiting for was announced just after I typed my comment yesterday so I guess I'll be buying one, to me for the money involved there is really no contest plus being a Nexus it should be constantly receiving the latest updates. The only thing I really don't like is it not having a MicroSD but I can say the same about Apple devices.
And the fill rate, something extremely important for gaming, is pretty lacking too. Don't know where this idea that Nvidia's tegra 3 has more GPU power came from, but it's pretty silly.
You forget the Nexus 7 has four cores, the (graphics) GL Benchmarks show that it's very comparable to the iPads and less than half the price. What the iPad mini brings I can only speculate but I'm definitely buying a 32gb Nexus 7. For the money involved it's a no brainer. I doubt I'll be using it much for gaming that's what my Vita is for but it's definitely got that ability.
Making a valid counter point in response to a post isn't getting bent out of shape. It's simply outlining the obvious evidence to counter the inaccuracies in your post. I'm confident that's still acceptable.
