I've never owned a tablet device iOS or android. Always have been gaming on iPhone I do have console games and they're good on my 50" TV.. But never played mobile games on a tablet over 6". Max is Note 2 5" screen. My next device will be an iPad... But not for a few years. By then, I hope apple upgrade memory & storage and stick a powerful chip in + controller support will be fully implemented. Then it will be awesome.
if that's true then I won't upgrade, the ipad air needs 2gb ram, 1 is stupid and hamstrings the device. betcha if it is 1gb then they'll add a 2gb model next yr. sorry Apple, deal breaker 4 me, no sale.
I think one of those rumour sites is already reporting greater than retina resolution for iPad Air 2. That will probably be when the RAM gets boosted up.
LOL!!! You mean the ipad air hasnt hit the shops yet and they are talking about ipad air 2? Christ!! no way am I dropping a £500 bomb on that now if its gonna be outdated in 2-3 months. Up yours Apple! rip off gits.
If you are ready to wait a few years, then nothing you see now will even exist then. Before iPhone, it was the Omnia and the HTC Mini, then before that the HP keyboard phones and all within a span of a few years. Maybe when you buy, it will be an OK iGlass...
Is that confirmes? I seem to recall some of the rumour sites saying a gold iPad with gold trim around the Home button will have the fingerprint sensor. I just wish Tim Cook will do what Steve Jobs did and control the narrative instead of letting all these rumours confuse the market.
iPadisGreat: All the specs, except the amount of RAM, are up on Apple.com. Been up since the Mac/iPad event last week I think
No mention of the fingerprint sensor. So is it on or off? Since Apple.com didn't mention RAM either, it doesn't follow that there isn't any fingerprint sensor. I am not arguing with you but just pointing out how sloppy things are under Tim Cook. iPadisWaitingForSteveJobsResurrection...
Based on the pictures of the Air on Apple's site, there is definitely no fingerprint sensor. And you gotta assume that would've been something they'd have mentioned in the announcement event as well. Surprising they left it off this time around. My first thought once I got used to using it on my phone was, "I can't wait to get this on the iPad."
I think everything's been revealed except the memory. I was stoked to sell my iPad 3 last weekend but gotta say I'm not too excited about getting the Air anymore with the high possibility that the memory will probably only be 1 GB. I'm ipad less now so gotta get something soon
Really more ram wouldn't make much a difference since developers would target 1gb or less since the overwhelming majority of iOS devices would fall in that range:
That's good to know and makes me feel a bit better about getting an Air. Just a little gunshot after buying the 3, only to have the 4 come out shortly thereafter.
Understandably. But, I don't think you have to worry about that with the Air. You'll get a full year of having the most advanced iPad this time around.
It wouldn't be a problem yet, but when I upgrade my iPad I want to keep it going for two or three years - and even if that's enough ram to run everything by then, the multitasking will suffer - just like it's suffering on my iPhone 4S.
Some Geekbench going around showing 1gb RAM in the iPad air. You suck, Apple. How cheap and greedy can a company get, making a few cents more per iPad adds up, but for a billion dollar company? C'mon. You suck, Apple. _Atleast_ 2 GB has been sorely needed for a long time now, for people who uses the iPad for more things then playing *random game* and checking Facebook/twitter. Another year then just to get a barebones 2gb tablet (no I can't switch to another brand)...Ugh :/
I think they have to up the RAM next time around, regardless of what they intend to be the main usage for their devices. With the 64 bit architecture going forward, more RAM is going to be an absolute necessity to make use of it. I'm a little surprised they didn't add it this time around on the Air and Mini2. I would gladly sacrifice size for more RAM and a bigger battery going forward, if that's what it takes. The problem is, the majority of users probably see size as more important, so Apple hasn't been forced to make the addition up to this point.
I was planning on getting an air or mini retina but I saw this too. not to mention they raised the price of the mini =/. Lucky for me gamestop just had a buy 2 get 1 deal on ipads so I ended up grabbing a mini 32gb, mini 16gb 4g and a ipad3 for ~$600. I plan on selling 1 or 2 of them if I dont use them as gifts.
Seems 1gb is confirmed. okay Apple, its a dealbreaker for me, I now move to Android, congrats on losing another customer and losing the sale of another new £500 ipad. Epic fail you greedy turds!
