Except that some models of PS3s were backwards compatible and some models were not, so that's a pretty big feature that was not the same on all the variations of PS3s.
Agreed, I'd rather have a thick ipad and far longer lasting battery life. As it is, I'm having to charge my ipad2 almost twice a day and I fear for the toll on the long term battery life and memory effect.
My iPad 2 runs iOS7 just fine, in fact, I was impressed by just how fluid it is over iOS6xx. It charges quickly and I still get great battery life out of it. I'm not saying anyone should buy one new, but they're certainly still more than decent. I'm tempted for Air tho, seeing as i use my ipad all the time, I'd quite like the retina display etc.
There's a small chance that the 5s, the mini and the Air are all clocked differently. Not up to "X" standards, sure, but possibly not all the same.
The Air is pretty tempting, but I wish it had been a bit more "Air". 1 pound is definitely a lot better, but I'd rather it was even lighter. There is the mini, but that's not going to be as good for some games, especially some board games. Still, it is very nice with the retina display and I could always carry a magnifying glass. LOL.
I wouldn't - I want the iPad to be lighter, not heavier. I think they made the right decision there, at least for me.
Agreed. I assume you guys use your iPads largely for gaming, which is probably why you are disappointed with its battery life. The average iPad use (I'd say most, about 80% maybe) use their iPad to just browse the web, email, and what not. Stuff that would be better holding the iPad in one hand. The current battery is great for just that.
I'm looking at upgrading my aging (but beloved) ipad2 come xmas time, I think the main thing for me will be price but if theres 2gb of memory in the ipad air, I guess that could swing my decision as the other specs seem very similar if not exact as an ipad 4 (as thinness and weight don't matter to me) okay it has a better cpu but I don't think its a huge bound ahead of the 4.
Agreed! My launch PS3 can play GTA 5 equally as well as a brand new PS3 machine. Now try playing Infinity Blade 3 on an iPad 1. Apples and Oranges here.
You know what's ironic my launch xbox 360 can't play the latest disks I doubt many originals have survived the rrod but Microsoft actually did alter the game disks at one point and made the original console useless with new games. Theoretically they do exchange the old consoles for new ones but I never cared enough to bother.
It depends on what you consider heavy though. I've always compared iPads to books when discussing weight, because books have been around for centuries and are used similarly, i.e. carried around outside, read on public transport and in coffee shops, etc. I've lugged around heavier books than my iPad, so weight just doesn't strike me as an issue at all.
I was disappointed that the main focus was on the name and weight. Lighter is a good thing but I'd rather have more battery life. I'm not sure there's enough in this new one for me to ditch my iPad 2 just yet.
What has the iDevice's RAM got to do with anything? Why would that be a killer feature for you? Faster CPU? More RAM? The difference between my 3GS and 5C is dramatic. When I swapped out Candy Crush Saga on my 3GS, it tended to be killed by iOS. On my 5C, it just maintains the state and hours later, I am able to resume where I left off. hours
To me the iPad 2 is too heavy, let alone the iPad 3 and 4. So, yeah, lighter is better for me. I mean the iPad 2 is fine if you sit it on arm of the couch, but holding it for an extended period is tiresome. Now having said that, I think 1 pound is still too heavy. I want something light as a feather.
Is the retina iPad Mini considered light? I can carry around 1-1.2kg of bottled water in my bag easily, but I feel the strain the moment I place my 700g iPad 2 into my bag. Weird...
The problem with that is, unless it's made of carbon nanotubes or aircraft grade titanium, it would break very easily.
I can only speak personally but I think more ram would help the ipad now more than faster cpu's. if the ipad air still only has 1gb ram then I really cannot justify its greater cost over the ipad4( when I upgrade my device.) as for me weight and thinness simply don't bother me.
I suspect it may be necessary to go to 2GB of ram when other competing phones and the new Kindle Fire's are equipped with it. I've heard the new Mini's are going to be in short supply, like the new 5s.
Folks, this is what's going to happen, this march. Apple will release an All-New iPad with a 12.9" screen and an A7x chip (2gb RAM). The iPad will be specifically made for gamers/gaming. This will also be the perfect opportunity for Apple to mention the official game controllers and MFI releted stuff. So gamers... Get the bigger and better - iPad GX (game Xtreme)
