Just purchased an iPad this weekend and was wondering if I should buy a case and/or screen protector. What are people's thoughts on this and what brands should I look into?
well i do not own one figure id wait till gen 2 ipad comes out. or see what the android pads are like since it seem most company's are making us buy second app just for the ipad anyhow.. anyhow. screen protector i would recommend. and a case probably not unless you plan on taking it out of the house. thats me tho. chris.
I think most iPad cases are more like laptop cases (i.e. folder/sleeve design) than iPhone cases which are generally designed to be permanently attached. So yeah, I'd buy one. Keep it nice and safe between a couple of hard edges and take it out when you get to wherever you're going, sounds ideal.
I'd skip the screen protector and buy a case that has a flap or something that covers the screen when you want to transport it.
Both, A good place to get screen protector is zagg.com, that thing is awesome plus lifetime warranty. you can customize and personalize the back too! It would be just you I do'nt have an ipad, but I have screen protector in the front, personalized skin on the back and a clear case. the personalized skin can be changed anytime, gets addicting
Buy a case for two reasons, the front is a giant pane of glass and the back is not flat and scratches easily. I have a big scratch right below the apple logo on mine from playing airhockey. Got a Marware ecoflip on it now, great case and can be used as a stand multiple ways. I also use a $2 business card holder as a horizontal stand which works even better when it's in the case.
I know a lot of people don't think a screen protector is necessary, but I am glad I decided to put one on my iPad. I was always checking to see whether I was getting any scratches on the screen, and I feel more secure now that it is on. I bought the Power Support brand from their website, and it was around $30. Kind of pricey, but worth it, since it was pretty easy to apply. I also think a case is a good idea. There are so many to choose from now...I just bought a cheap case from amazon until I find the "perfect" case for me (whatever it turns out to be...haven't decided yet. )
I just got one Glare Apple iPad Screen Protector, I think it is very very nice protector. Anti-glare surface allows for clear and uninhibited functionality Custom fit for the iPad Absorbs light impact and helps prevent scratches Includes a cleaning cloth and card to apply the screen protector with Full screen coverage and protection Hand washable, removable, and ready for multiple applications Repels dust and reduces glare
Buy a case for two reasons, first is a giant pane of glass and back is not flat and scratches easily. I have a prior right under the big apple logo from playing airhockey mine. Got a Marware ecoflip far, in the case of large and can be used as a stand many ways. I also use a business card holder $ 2 as a horizontal approach that works even better when it is in this case.
I thought this case was interesting especially if you have kids. But then someone on Gizmodo posted their DIY case made from a notebook and I thought that was cool!
I definitely recommend a case and screen protector. I went awhile without the screen protector thinking that if it was in a case I would have nothing to worry about and ended up getting a little scratch on the screen while I was on the couch and the ipad fell on my chest hitting the zipper on my coat. The screen protector hides it but it sucks that its there. As far as recommendations, I have the Cyber Acoustics ipad case and could not be happier with it. I looked around for a long time deciding on which case to get and I know I made the right choice. Well designed, good looking and durable. For the screen protector I use the Zagg shield which works really well, I don't have to worry about scratches at all with this and I can wipe off fingerprints with anything at hand. It was insanely hard to put on the screen and back though, took quite a while to get it on and even got stuck to itself a couple of times during the install. I even had help putting it on and it was still very difficult. Worth it though once you get it on.
