As tempting as it is, i'll probably wait it out and 'skip' this generation since I took the plunge on the 4S... haha. It'll most likely be another 8-9 month wait before the next-gen iPad is launched anyhow... my iPad 2 will keep me company till then
Ipad4 it is for me then . Something that will have the horsepower to really take advantage of the retina screen . Until then my ipad2 will more than serve my needs .
Do you demand revolutionary new "generational" hardware each year from other companies? Microsoft? Sony? Nintendo?
I have at least a 3rd gen and can wait out and limp on the hardware till the 5th comes along. I really feel for you man. Your signature has more tragedy in it than James Cameron managed to achieve in Titanic. More so now than ever.
No more branding the device as iPad 2/3/4/5 etc. Just like iPod touch. It'll be known as 3rd gen iPad I guess.
That's seems a little silly on the surface. If it's popularly going to be known is iPad 3rd gen, might as well brand it as iPad 3. Especially since, iPad 2 is going to co-exist with it for some time.
I have the first gen too. No reason not to upgrade from 1st gen unless you can't afford an iPad this year. For iPad 2 owners, it makes sense to get iPad 4 unless they managed to sell it before today's announcement. I'd still be tempted to upgrade from iPad 2 (if I had one) mostly coz of retina display. I use my iPad a lot and definitely care how finely detailed the text is on this thing. For games, I don't care about the resolution much as long as its using the native res and to the 2x mode from iPhone games. Wonder how will iPhone only games be rendered on the new iPad. Going to suck real bad if it's still upscaled from 320x480.
Soooo.... hows the dual core going to fare with the retina screen? Can we expect retina enabled iPad Cave games? I wonder how different are "iPad 3" optimized games going to look vis-a-vis ipad 2 optimized games.
Agree entirely. I have an iPad 2, and definitely not upgrading this year. Not even tempted to upgrade for retina, despite doing a lot of reading on the iPad.
iPad 3's processor is quad core. Edit: meant the GPU (which is what will matter in games). Not the CPU which is still dual core.
not sure why people are not excited.. the retina jump on the iphone was amazing and the difference between the sd and hd device where huge.. its better in nearly every aspect (same battery life, same storage) costs the same and is an great update.. of course the ipad 4 will be better.. thats more than obvious..
