Wow its been in front of us the whole time. There isn't any need for a home button, actually the iPad 2 already has the function. Figure it out? There going to solely use gestures. Since they already have the gesture to go home there is no need and there will be no touch home button.
They are not removing the home button. The gesture functions aren't 100%, apps do register input when using apples gestures. But I really hope they move it the edge next to the power button. Dunno how many times I've pressed that thing by mistake.
Excited to see what they announce for the iPad 3. Wonder if there'll be any news about the iPod touch or iPhone... They never did release a 5th gen. iPod touch. Kind of skeptical about the iPad getting a retina display, but there is plenty of evidence that suggests it will- it just kind of seems too far fetched/too good to be true. Also kind of wonder how Apple will react to the Kindle Fire- it costs less than half the cost of a new iPad, and a lot of people are buying them- I see more Kindle Fires in the Seattle area than iPads (of course, it could just be Seattle pride- Amazon is based here). Maybe Apple will release a cheaper budget model? Really doubt they would though. Ummm... I wouldn't call that conclusive- note that the apps are arranged differently, so the pic on the left could have been taken farther down.
No but they made sure of that because they matched up the bubbles from the water. So there's either no home button r apple wanted to mix things up a bit and flip the ipad and take the picture
Yeah, noticed that they matched the water droplets after I said that. Was waiting for somebody to correct me.
Apparently an accessory, known only by its codename B82, will be launched alongside the iPad 3 and new Apple TV on March 7. There's a bit of speculation as to what it will be. The most realistic seems to be an updated smart cover. But some go as far as a gaming control; and the fact Apple TV has blutooth, perhaps a snazzy remote control.
I feel it's best to apply Occam's Razor to these product announcements, and a new smart cover seems the most reasonable.
24 hours to go..yabadabbadoooooo shame I just bought a second iPad literally a month ago because I got tired of waiting! But oh well, a person can never have too many apple products! They always come in handy for random stuff
Sell it on Amazon quick! You could give it to some unwitting member of the public who does not follow Apple. I managed to sell an iPod on there within 40 minutes.
If it ships with a a5x dual core processor i think i will have to pass, and wait for a quad core a6 version...Will see sometime later today...pretty excited.
Is there anywhere I can watch a live stream from the event tomorrow? It's happening at 7am for me and since I don't have anywhere to be I'm planning to sleep until 10, since refreshing a news page for information is not my style. A live feed would change all that, of course. So is there a place I can find one? (for free. >_>)
Macrumors will most likely be doing a livestream when it starts (in 7hrs 50m). http://www.macrumors.com/ Also Engadget. http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/06/engadget-broadcasting-live-apple-ipad-3-tomorrow/
Just read the best, fairly plausible rumour. I hope to god it's true. Basically, a company that makes 'Feel' screens (if it displays something soft, it feels soft. Rough feels rough etc.) has commented saying they won't make any statement until after todays Apple conference. Thats made people think that perhaps iPad 3 has one?!
Any kind of tactile feedback would be mind-blowing. I'd only believe it if I could touch it. My money is on retina display and a virtual home button.
Well, I googled Senseg and it seems as if they're trying to their haptic technology into tablets before the year's end. I don't really know where that leaves Apple and the iPad 3. They did say they were working with a certain Cupertino tablet maker. That doesn't necessarily narrow it down, but all eyes--including mine--are probably on Apple.
Haptics would be great! Think of all the possibilities with iOS gaming with this technology. The keynote will be 2am here :/
