No one's going to know how much RAM memory the new iPad has until it's actually been released and torn apart, a la ifixit. Right now, it's only speculation. I was honestly the most impressed with the new 'cover' although the iPad 2 is pretty nice. Just not worth upgrading, for me, at the moment.
Yeah, if youve got the old ipad, i think you dont need this one THAT much. Even though the camera was added, it looks really cumbersome.
Well for someone who has avoided the iPad 1 like a plague, the ipad 2 only looks that much more meh, but I'm excited enough to get one! LOL
Yay! Can I technically say my phone is now equal to the iPad at least in one small category? EDIT: On a serious note though, I do like the new color and the nifty cover... saves the hassle of putting on a giant ass screen protector, eh?
I would think that iPad owners with a lot of apps/games on it, can sell their original one for a nice price. I have the 32GB model in mint condition with orig box, parts and apple case with hundreds of dollars invested in games and apps and I was thinking of selling it to a friend for around $450 or b/o and put the money towards the new one. No problems with this, right? I'm excited for a new white one with cameras and more processing power. I'm a photographer and love the iPad as a portfolio device. My images pop off the screen. Will the new one look any better or more of the same graphically for photos?
You can't sell apps along with the iPad because they're linked to your account. They'd need your account details (which you obviously wouldn't want to give them).
I held out on getting the iPad 1G and used my brother's this entire time while waiting for the release of the 2G. Kind of glad I did for the price, alternate color, and everything else overall. Can't wait to order it(16GB). EDIT: I noticed it saying it wont have Retina Display? That kind of hurts actually...
Technically, if it was legal, which it wasn't, I hypothetically would tell you to just strip all personal info from your account, including credit cards, etc. and just act like its a bundle with the iPad.
Well, it didn't have some of the things that were rumoured -- no ultra hi-res display, no SD slot -- but it's got the dual-core A5 with a newer SGX GPU. What hasn't been reported is the actual speeds and RAM. I'm guessing the A5 runs both cores at 1GHz, and the RAM is probably at least doubled to 512MB, which all by itself would speed up the graphic pipeline. I'm looking forward to it myself. I probably won't even need to buy the 3G version with the personal hotspot feature coming to the iPhone 4, which will save me some dosh.
I am more then slightly disappointed that the new model has nether an SD card slot nor more onboard storage then the previous unit or the last three generations of iPods. 64GB flash chips are available and I'm certainly willing to drop the extra cash on a 64GB or even 128GB iPhone this year if they can find room. I know this isn't an issue for everyone but my 32GB 3GS has been full since the week I bought it and I'm constantly clearing apps off my 16GB iPad to make room for new content.
It's a big issue for a lot of people myself included 64gb just isn't enough, I'll probably be going the Android direction if the other apple device launches follow suit at least then I can switch memory cards around. There are some rumours ipad 3 will be released this year as well though.
What I meant by that is there's nothing that sets it apart from the other tablets, other than the Apple fanboys wanking over something new. http://phandroid.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/ipad2-honeycomb-comparefixed.jpg A pretty good comparison chart. There's nothing on the ipad2 that screams out "I'm better than the others". These new first gen tablets are starting where it took Apple a year to get to. So, as I said, "Much ado about nothing".
