In June, I'm going to buy either an iPad 2 or the iPod Touch.

I really don't know which one to buy. It's such a dilemma for me. This is how I'm going to decide which to buy. I'm going to add a poll to this and the one with most votes wins.

I'm going to be using the device primarily for gaming.

The reason I'm leaning towards the iPad is because it's like a laptop but also like an iPod touch. It's pretty much a mix. Another nice feature is Garageband. I could also use Pages + Keynote to do homework. Watching movies on it would be much nicer then on the iPod Touch as well.

However, the iPod is nice too because it just seems more portable- I could take it anywhere. I can't really take my iPad everywhere I go. It's easier for the iPod touch because it fits in your pockets.

One worry I have for the iPad is that gaming won't be good. It seems as if playing games with virtual controls (MC2, NOVA, Dead Space, etc) would be difficult. Yet, it would be easier to play on the iPod touch. Plus the iPod touch has retina display.

But... watching videos and surfing the net on the iPad 2 would be much, much better.

SO, which one should I get?

The iPad 2 or iPod Touch 4? And you don't have to, although I would appreciate it if you could give me a few reasons as to which device to go with.

OH and one more thing, would 16 GB for an iPad be enough? I have around 4 gigs of music. I'm going to add around 2 movies so that's around 3 GB. I'll have around 6 GB of apps. 6 + 3 + 4 = 13. Yup, I think 16 would be fine.

Oh and does the iPad play HD videos?

I'd say 64gb ipad.. I know its expensive but my dad has a 1gen ipad and he got the 64gb and about 75% of it is filled. also most gameloft games are around 700mb which is close to a gb. You'll thank yourself if you do!:D

If you're waiting until June, you may as well wait for iPod 5 to be announced and that may help sway your decision.

I am sure that more awesome games will come out in the future, so you'll probably want something larger than 16gb...especially since you lost all of your app data/saves when you delete the app from your device (they really need to change that).

If you are going to do a lot of reading, go for the iPad. Otherwise, the iPod is probably better...and you can get more space for less.

I wouldn't rely on the iPad for stuff like homework. It's definitely more productive than an iPod Touch but still way less productive than a laptop/PC.

Garageband owns, browsing on the iPad owns, and basically with any bluetooth keyboard it's a phenomenal little word processing gadget. I initially wrote off Pages as just a gimmick for Apple commercials, but it's actually surprisingly powerful once you delve into it. You really can't go wrong with an iPad 2, it's a phenomenal device.

I'd say go for the iPad 2 (if they have any in stock by June that is, still waiting for mine to be shipped even though I ordered it 9am launch day :() of course if youre gonna wait that long they may have announced a new iPod by then as someone else mentioned here, ive got an iPhone 4 and also a first gen iPad already and to be honest my phone doesn't get a look in since I bought the iPad (unless I'm out and about cause my iPad is a 16gig wifi model) oh and on a side note 16 gig is fine, it takes minutes to sync with your pc/mac should you really need to take anything off to make space but in all honesty I can count on one hand the apps that get used on a frequent basis and we all carry round far more stuff than we actually need or use on our iPhones/iPads.

I would go with the ipad2. I use the ipad2 99% for gaming and 1% for the internet browsing. It's really hard for me use an iphone/intouch for gaming now with that smaller screen.

As for gaming, I would agree some types of games don't work to well with touch controls, but there are so many more games that do though.

Since your buying in June, you have quite a bit of time to decide.

Go for ipad 2. As u already owns an iphone 3gs, there is no point in buying an ipod touch.

  11. Ipad 2 all the way. Games like Dead Space are so much more immersive with the bigger screen and improved graphics.

    Here's my thoughts:
If you are going to get an iPod Touch 4G or iPad 2 in June, you should definitely get the iPad 2. Most likely the iPod Touch 5th generation will be out by September, so if you end up wanting an iPod Touch you might as well wait just a little while longer.

I have an 32GB iPod Touch 4G and a 16GB iPad 2. I use my iPad a lot more then my iPod Touch now. But I primarily use my iPod Touch still for gaming since my iPad doesn't have a lot of memory. If my iPad had more memory I would definitely be playing more games on there because of the gorgeous big screen. So I say you get an iPad 2, but get a bigger one even though it costs more money. In the long run that will be much better.

I'd also say either get the ipad 2 or wait for next ipod to release which should hopefully have a similar spec. I'm waiting and hoping they bump the storage up knowing apple they probably won't in which case I'll settle for just the NGP or something android more than likely.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate your help.

I'm convinced to buy an iPad. I went to the Apple Store and used it again and it's just so fun to use. Thanks guys, really appreciate it!

And I'm not going to buy the 5th Gen Touch. I can only get one iDevice.

Really looking forward to June now!
