got off work early, stoood in line for an hour looking to get a wifi 64 (like my first gen which I sold).

ended up with a 16 wifi.....bottom of the barrel.

they sold out of 3G's in 25min.

sold out of every model except for 16 gigs in 45 min and now they are out.

im crying like a baby but one guy put it into perspective.

we stand in line for ipads & some people stand in line for government issued bread.

so in the end....at least i got one.

    now to sync.

anyone else pick up on launch day?

ArcheAngel, would you like a free version of my app verto studio ($8 value) so you can test it and let me know all is well? PM me if so.

I ordered mine online so I won't get it for a week at least.

Canada release is March 25th... so two more weeks and then I get to stand in line... :D. I'm not so flexible on the capacity.

I'm pretty excited typing from my iPad now :) First time owner. I got mine at best buy got in line @ 330 and was about 50 people back. The store employee actually went through the line multiple times as they had unsold 3G iPad's.

Got the 16gb wifi one and the speed difference between this and the first is pretty significant. It's not as dramatic as going from the 3G to 3GS but still pretty good. Apps like The Daily load faster and Safari is noticeably faster compared to my first Gen iPad on iOS 4.3. I love how it's a bit less bulkier to hold in my hands but it's still not light enough for me to hold and read books for hours at a time like on my Kindle 3G. Deadspace HD looks slightly better on this and Infinity Blade got a huge texture boost which looks really nice.

I like my leather Smartcover but it tips over way too easily when I'm trying to play games while it's standing horizontally.

Dailybooth is useless to me and Facetime would probably look really nice talking to another person on an iPad. Otherwise an iPhone 4 owner will just look really pixelated and you'll look extremely clear on their end.

This is definitely a good buy for first time iPad owners with the graphic and speed improvements but if I didn't have as much disposable income I'd probably wait until a higher resolution one arrives.

Me too, nice choice :) I have a question about the cover though. Im kinda paranoid about the magnets scratching the back of the iPad, is this possible or no?

I thought about selling my first gen ipad early to cover the cost of a new one but I figure I can hold out until the 4th generation. I like holding onto my old electronics, all my PDAs and MP3 players (including a Palm III, Rio One and first gen iPod) are proudly displayed on a "museum shelf" in my apartment.

The chances of the magnets scratching the iPad are probably fairly remote, but Engadget did mention that their review unit got a nasty scratch on the back, not necessarily from the magnets. They did say that some people might wish to look to other case solutions if they're worried about the back of the device.

Call me Mr. Obvious, but aren't the magnets inside the cover? The only contact should be the fabric.

If you take a look at the image below... (Click to see a larger version)

...You'll see that the cover has a thin bar that contains the magnet that connects to the outer edge of the iPad 2. They're not inside the cover, and if you're not careful when attaching the cover, I suppose there could be chances of scratching.

    Aggghhhhh!

I still have to play the waiting game. Sigh.

I haven't been logged in to the beloved TA forums, as I will have been without my 32 GB iPad for 2 weeks (as of this coming Monday).

I feel I got a good deal, though. The Sunday prior to Apple's conference, Buybackworld offered 410$ for a perfect condition iPad (which mine was). They agreed and now I'm just waiting on the check from them (sent off Thursday from NY to CA)....

So, alas I am iPad-less until early next week.

Will I be able to find one? I want the 16GB in white.

Who (retailers) selling as of now?

Any soothing words for my anticipation would be appreciated :0)

    I couldn't go that long!!!

I got full value on my first gen 64 (bought 3 months ago and returned just before receipt expired) so that I could just basically switch and not have to wait.

Lol I returned in the morning, went to work, then went to get the iPad 2.

No lost iPad time....just lost the gig size :(

Looks like I'll be using the home sharing a lot!!!!
